I LIKE. I WANT IT.
Fit and finish were top notch, and it was just an all around nice pistol.
Plus, it has classic style spur hammer, vertical serrations, and a little horsey on it. No front serrations, no commander hammer, no rails, none of that.
$610 might be a bit high, though, but prices are always high around here. $515 for a Springfield Mil-Spec, for comparison.

Excellent shooter by the way. And, no hammer bite.

Why haven't you bought it yet? If mine is typical it's a great pistol.

The new Colts are coming along really well. While Colt's QC is finally going up, Springfield's is sagging and Kimber's is going downhill fast. The only really problem with Colts are that so few are bing made at the moment. We're talking only about 50 guns at a time per model per month. As a result demand is much higher than supply, so despite the fact that a new blued #01991 should sell for $550 and a stainless #01091 for ~$650, some folks are able to charge $100-$150 more for them.
Of course, if you pay an exhorbitant fee for one you can always go cheap on cleaning it. :D

I'm a dedicated HK USP 45 guy, but I just picked up a Colt - I only paid $510 for it, but after shooting, I'd have paid much more. My review:
New rollmark Colt - impressive...
I stopped into my gun dealer's yesterday, and he had two of the new rollmark Colt Government Models, in blue.
The fit and finish are very nice. The new rollmark looks good, and the blue is well done. It has decent sights, a long aluminum trigger, nice wood grips, and a spur hammer that's long enough to look right and short enough to not bite me.
Most impressive is the way it shoots. The feedramp and barrel are throated and it feeds 200gr +p Gold Dots like a champ. Interestingly, the recoil impulse is less with those than with 230gr ball. I put an 18.5# Wolff recoil spring in it, which seems to be perfect.
For $510 the pistol is a bargain, and with the Series 80 lockwork my department allows it for carry - it just may find some night sights and get carried from time to time.

What's the deal with those ugly loooong aluminum triggers? I thought they were going to start putting the nice short triggers on them again.....

My new rollmark Colt has made me a believer. No malfunctions, beautiful finishing and I would put it up against a Kimber anyday of the week and I got it in the low $500 area.

I just picked her up 10 days ago and haven't had time to take her to the range yet. Got her for a little under 5 bills:)

You guys must have the 1991-A's (http://www.colt.com/CMCI/1991.asp) right? On Colt's website the series 70's all have the short trigger, spur hammer, and short beavertail just like I like em. The way they built em best.

To me 1911's seem like the best "hot weather" gun. They conceal easily, fire a big bullet, and are durable. People are wearing alot less clothing so bullet penetration on the badguy is not so much an issue as it is in colder climates.

I never see any Colt's where I am.
How does the polished blue finish of the goverment model compare to say, a Kimber "Royal", or a Gold Cup, series 70, older Colt, blued Springfield?
I'll take any comparison opinion. Pictures I have seen, some look well polished, others look like a "half hearted" attempt at polishing. I realize it's in the lighting, etc of the picture.
Frame/slide fit- any tighter than they used to be?
I have a 1991A1 so I know what "ugly" is, great functioning gun though!
Thanks
