My next knife...

I think will be a SOG Blink (http://sogknives.com/blinknew.htm).(Once I save up $40 bucks) I saw one at the knife shop a while ago and it's a pretty sweet little knife! Assisted open, too. What do you guys think about it? Any people who have it?

The Blink is good enough that the guy that does the evaluations for Blade Magazine had his test piece pinched by a good buddy of his:rolleyes:

My local FFL had a few but they seemed just a little too small for my hands. But otherwise they seemed to be a quality product.

Well if I get it, it won't be a my standard carry knife, just for deep concealment or a backup-backup knife (or both). I have a fixed blade as my primary knife (SOG Seal Pup), a folder for my backup or if i need to cut something (Kershaw Ken Onion Blackout), and soon I'll probably have the Blink for times where I have to conceal something really well (I'm thinking about in my wallet-I've seen one and it could definitely fit there), a backup-backup knife, or sometimes a knife that is a little more sheeple-friendly than my Seal Pup or my Blackout.

CW, the Blink is intended to be a pocket knife. It is not well suited to be pressed into service as a weapon and certainly not in a wallet. It has a great cool factor with it's assisted opening mechanism and makes a great sheeple cooler being small and cute. If you want a double naught deep hide knife get a small neck knife and be done with it.

Believe it or not, not every knife needs to be a tactical wonderweapon. ;)
My Sebenza is so snug that it won't inertia open. Someone started giving me tips about how to loosen it up last weekend, and I pointed out that they were assuming that I wanted it loosened up. It's not all that important to tactically deploy a box- or pizza-cutter with lightning speed; the box/pizza isn't going anywhere. ;)

Problem with an article that size is getting it out of the wallet. If I was down to trying to flush a hider out of my billfold, I'd be using my teeth first. In a grappling situation, never underestimate the value of a good set of teeth. See, there's a good reason why mom always told you to brush your teeth well. :D

I know it's not intended as a weapon, but if you were in a deadly situation, would you want to have the blink or nothing? I'm mainly geeting it as a cool knife.

The really good thing about something like this is you don't have to pull out "obvious combat steel" for utility.
This is a very high end version of such a "peaceful use utility knife/backup. Mine is both cheaper and smaller, a Swisstech Utilikey. Another good option: Leatherman Micra or similar keychain-sized multitool.
Get whichever one you want. The Blink actually CAN fight in a dire pinch.

I might save up some more money and get this sweet multi-tool, again made by SOG. Powerlock (http://www.sogknives.com/pwrlck.htm)
Maybe I should go with the EOD powerlock instead, 'cause it's the same but it has cool little blasting cap crimpers that I'll never use. Or will I?:scrutiny:

yeah, but I like the more conventional multi-tool look of the other ones.
