School shootings and gun control

We’ve spent a lot of time talking about the shooting at VT and other school shootings and the usual call for banning of guns after such.

Why didn’t we hear a call for disarming, prosecuting, or at least firing the gunman that killed unarmed students at Kent State and South Carolina State U?????
