Hi Oleg,

Your imbedded link doesn't show a pic. It links to this:

Did you do one already with pictures of assorted (gun) safety equipment?

I have one that covers everything affected by HR1022. I am about to make separate on each safety feature.

I like it. Perhaps you should send one to her BTW she is not a Senator She's a House Representative or Congreswoman. NY Senators are Shumer & Clinton. You might want to make that change.

Of course they must. They are horrible, nasty, and just out to getcha!

How many stories have you read where, "...it was hidden in a shroud of mystery," or "...it moved quietly through the swamp shrouded in the fog of the morning," :uhoh: or some such thing like that? With such imposing doom inflected by the word, it HAS to be a dangerous thing needing to be banned. She hasn't the slightest idea what it is...or at least she didn't until being made a fool of in that interview. Kudos to the newsman who did that.

If you haven't seen that news clip, click on one of the links above to Xavier's blog and watch it. It is both disturbing and hilarious.

Very nice poster Oleg! I really like that. Some one really should send it to the Honorable Congresswoman.

I suggest avoiding gun terms as much as possible. A variant of this might have more emotional appeal than "barrel shroud":

"This safety device is used to prevent burns. Senator Mcarthy has no idea what it does, but wants to ignore our bill of rights and ban it anyway. Is this the kind of leader you want in office?"

...if these barrel-shroud-shoulder-things-that-flip-up are so dangerous, I'd better make certain I'm well armed for when they attack! Better go purchase some more firearms...

maybe if she had a little more experience with "thingy's that go up", she wouldn't have so much time to worry about what guns everyone owns.

Is she passionate about automobile control too? After all;

Cars kill. Cars should have a 10 horsepower limit. Only two people per car, (high capacity cars should only be used by the military). Limit driving to once per month. Engine shrouds (hoods) are dangerous. Gas tank limit of one gallon. Cars should be regulated by the BATF&C.

Elected officials that prove they are worthless should not get re-elected, but they do...how?

I'd still call it a barrel shroud, the anti's use that term, and it is what the public will hear.

Calling it a barrel shroud, and just noting that it is a safety feature would likely have the best effect, rather than describing what it actually does. After all why would anyone want to ban a "safety feature"?

Excellent.

PS would a dig about outlawing things that you do not know what they are seems rather prejudiced to me :neener: NJ

I have a question that may be slightly off topic
But couldn't the upper fore grip on an SKS and many other military weapons be skewed as a barrel shroud

DagoRed

I would call it a heat shield.

I hope you don't mind the edits on your image Oleg, but this would be my choice for phrasing.

"If your Congressional Representative did not have a clue as to what this is. . .

<barrel shroud>

. . .and still tried to ban it as "dangerous" out of ignorance and fear, wouldn't that call into question his or her competence to represent you?

Ban nonsensical legislation, not gun safety features.:D

Nice work, Oleg. (As always.)
I think I'm going to send her (and some of the others who want to blame inanimate objects for human [mis]behavior) a copy of Jonathan Kellerman's article that was mentioned in another THR thread. ("Why the Virginia Tech shooter was not committed. (http://www.opinionjournal.com/editorial/feature.html?id=110009977)")

"Get those nasty barrel thingies out of here. And those evil whatachamacallit lugs, too." :rolleyes:
She's clueless, and on a mission. That's a troubling combination.

Of course the barrel shroud is dangerous. If you didn't have it, you couldn't fire a bunch of rounds without burning yourself. :)

What kind of shroud is that?

Wouldn't be obvious that barrel shroud is something that covers the barrel?

I bet she doesn't even know what a barrel is on a gun.

Ban nonsensical legislation, not gun safety features.

This would assume the had any competence to start with:confused:
