cold dead hands

Anybody here own more than one of the gun they carry concealed so they can shoot one or more for practice while occasional function testing/ammo rotating the "unused" carry gun?
I know a guy who rotates 3 Glocks and ammo for carry, but he has no dedicated carry gun.
thanks for your input

I Don't 'rotate' but while I shoot my CCW 1911 I try to put the heavy wear on other 1911's.
Same with my Glock 19 although that is not a CCW other than for that one month of familirization.

Since all the Glocks have the same manual of arms it shouldn't be a problem , switching between the types could be a big problem (like going from a 1911 to revolver ) But the caveat is the shooters familiarity with his weapons .

I have a number of pistols I use for CCW, but are duplicates. I always keep one on me when I shoot the others since I shoot out in the wild.

I do own multiples of some of the guns I carry. I have 2 Glock 27's, 3 Sigmas,
several 1911's in various barrel lengths etc. I predominantly carry either a G27 or a 1911 as a primary with a P3AT or AMT .380 backup in my pocket or on my ankle as a BUG. As long as you shoot regularly with what you carry you shouldn't have problems. I don't worry much about wearing out a gun with practice. If I do I will just replace it or the parts that are bad. Many pistols need springs replaced periodically anyway. Just routine maintenance.

I have several guns I can carry, and at one point or another have carried them all for some period of time, but my primary carry gun is the one I shoot the most--it's the one i need to be most familiar with.
I like to know exactly how it behaves, and exactly where it puts the bullets.

I have rotated "carry pieces"; but nowdays its usually some type of 1911
in .45 ACP~! ;)
A West German SIG-SAUER .45 caliber P220A (duty weapon) lay retired
in my safe; and now only sees occassional duty, or a trip too the range.:D

My primary is a Kahr P40. If I wear a suit jacket I carry my Kimber Tac II (4inch). I might add a third in the coming months as I'd like to pocket-carry sometimes and I'm not able to do that at present.

Out of five, I rotate between two. HK P2000 in fall/winter, 1911 in spring/summer. Steel can make for a good morning wakeup in the winters...

i rotate depending on the need.
for workplace ccw (deep concealment) i carry my Glock 26.
for when i can wear a vest or similar concealment garb - a clunky 1911 with 2 spare mags.
does the G26 shoot as accurately as the 1911? no.
is it better than having nothing? yes.

I carry a kel-tec p-32, a Kahr PM-9, and a Walther PPK/S... I am comfortable and confident with all three...

I recommend finding a gun you like, and that is in the most powerful cartridge you can comfortably shoot. Then get two of them. (And ten magazines if it's an auto, or ten speed loaders if it's a revolver, and two good holsters and a way to carry ammo) In the end, If a gun costs about $500, I budget $1500 for it, so I can get all the support for it I will need, and then relax.
The rest is gravy.

The gun doesn't rotate, the magazines do.

Pharmer,
Can you post a picture of the Davis .22 mag next to one of the other pistols? I am interested in getting something similar and was wondering about the size.
Thanks,

Nah, I don't have twins of anything. Every one of the four different handguns I carry at one time or another is my only version of that particular design.
1911, XD-45, Glock 29 or S&W 442.
Don't believe I'll ever wear one out. But if I do it seems a simple matter of getting it repaired or just replace it.

I've got a few 1911's that I carry, all are 5" models and set up the same, except for one which has an ambi safety. The only other handgun I own is a 5" XD45 that I haven't even shot yet.

I guess I'm boring, but I use the Walther P-99. I have two of them and just use them. In the summer if it's hot I'll carry a PPK/S. If I buy another gun it'll probably be another P-99 or a Glock 19, but I like having mags that can be used in either gun.

I do use different weapons for CC, but all are double action revolvers. Point and squeeze trigger, what could be simpler.

I carry both autos and revolvers, according to where I'm going, how I'll be dressed or just how I feel on a given day. I've shot both enough to switch back and forth with no hesitating or second thoughts of how "how does this one work".

Sure! Always have a spare or three around. It simplifies training of the spouse. Common magazines *could* be useful at times. It is also good for maintenance...what will you use if you send the gun off to the 'smith?

I carry a Makarov in .380jhp. I usually have an IWB holster, but, on hot days, I wear baggy shorts with deep pockets. It works well. I have shot over 2000 rounds and not a SINGLE jam, FTF, FTE.... I love it. I have a CZ82 in mail too... We shall see if it replaces the trusty Mak.

No twins.
Main carry, XD45 Service
Alternate carry, LW Commander
Deep concealment (for me anyway), Bersa Thunder 380
Hiking and gun games, XD45 Tactical.
The lower on the XD45 Tactical is covered with skateboard tape. On occasion I swap lowers with the XD45 Service. There are times when I want to carry the XD45 Tactical and don't want my clothes to stick to the gun.

No. I carry a 5" Kimber, and shoot it more than all of my other 1911s combined.
Rangetime is pretty well split between my carry gun and beater pistol, a G19.
The next on the most fired list is another 5" Kimber, what I would carry if my primary decides to break.
I was instructed, if I intended to carry more than one weapon that they should be the same weapons, that way I will never have to look at which weapon is in my hands to figure out safety's, etc.
(Muscle memory was the term one of my instructors uses.)
Also related to muscle memory, the 1911 and the glock feel so different that my hand knows what I have when I pick it up. Of course, like mentioned, rangetime is pretty well split between the two. If I fired one more than the other I might start having problems.

Depending on what I'm wearing I carry different guns. I carry a Glock 36 in my 5.11 vest, when I can wear that. If I can get away with an untucked shirt, I carry a Glock 26 in a Galco high-ride paddle lock holster, and when I need to dress up a bit more, I carry a 642 in my pocket, though I'm thinking aobut replacing that with a Kel Tec PF9. MachIVshooter, how do you like your PF9?

Springfield XD45 Service IWB in a Brommeland Max Con V

Taurus PT-145 usually pocket carried as a BUG but in a Tucker Heritage IWB as primary as well

I recently traded for a CZ75, in 9mm, that after another 500 rounds to prove it's consistiency in operation and accuracy, will also be carried IWB in a Tucker Heritage

And you combo is?...... Nice collection, my Uncle had a safe that was stocked like that and I was like a kid in a candy store when I'd visit him.
I can't afford multiples right now, I'm still trying to amass one of everything.
For carry:
Kimber Pro Carry .45 for the last 8 years, 2500+ rounds fired never fails and works well for my size(5'7" 170lbs), on my side right now.
Taurus PT145 Pro, only 100 rounds fired, not proficient enough to be my daily carry yet, I'm getting used to the long trigger pull. Good prospect for carry but not enough rounds yet to trust it.
Taurus M85UL .38Special, bought for wife and she has it around the house or glove box carries it until she's licensed. she handles it nice for her size(5'5" 105lbs) I occassionally carry this, if in a hurry.

That's what scares me, what I might become. A two, or three, of everything I like/own in guns, just because redundancy, as in aircraft controls and instruments, (back-ups) is what makes me love flying. And the love of my semi-handguns is right up there with flying, with a "minimum" of 2 of everything, maybe even 3 of each.. flying mentality :what:
Very Impressive RG, very.. IT's the MOTHERLOAD :D
