Hi, all,

Can anyone here recommend a range bag that's small enough to be carried inside a motorcycle pannier?

Thanks,

What makes a "range" bag anyway? How about just bring a pistol case, and one of those military surplus tool bags for ammo? Thats what I do on the bike.

If you're like most of us, you'll have to get a "side hack" to handle the job!! :)

What type of bike are you riding?

For sport bikes, a tank bag would probably work well. Otherwise, a backpack.

BMW R1100R. It's got lockable panniers, and I wanted something that would fit into them.

This would be a back pack.

Everyone's panniers are different. But, more importantly, how much do you want to carry? One choice might be a diver's regulator bag. Those are often small padded zippered flat bags. But they have little or no internal structure to hold things firmly.

I would prefer a small molded plastic foam-inside case for the handgun. I always transport ammo in metal ammo cans so I'm not sure what I would do on the bike (my saddle bags are too small for those).

Do you have the top box? I have a R1100RT (wonderful bike, plates are IRNBTT), anyway, the top box holds more in bag from and wider than the side boxes. Also, do you still have the small GS style right side bag or the full size bag with a low mount exhaust? I think you could get any small range bag into the top box and then just put ammo into the side boxes (too much weight up top).

Try Green Mountain Sports, I have two of their bags and have been impressed (both big though, truck only). http://www.greenmtnsports.com/
