Who should I be putting my support behind?

Now that it looks like Gov. Davis is going to be recalled, options are popping up...from Arnold Schwartzenegger (sp?????) to Bill Simon. Who is the better option?

Bill Simon has an A- (?) rating from either the NRA or CRPA, but has been wishywashy on his stance on CCW. Gray Davis called him an extremist when it comes to guns so that's good enough for me.

I don't know Arnie's track record, but he needs to get his fingers off the trigger.

Mike Carona, run for governor!!!

Arnie is pro-gun control....!

Schwartzenegger is married to a Kennedy, and is on record as supporting leftist extremist so-called "gun control." He's at best a R.I.N.O.

IF she'll run, she'll dominate: Condi Rice! And she's as pro-gun as Runt :D.

(Seriously, Rice is *extremely*, vocally pro-RKBA.)

Are the bars open in California on E-Day?

Seriously - pick a libertarian who doesn't weird you out too much.

I had voted for Bill Simon as was reay to put my supportbehind him. Then I heard of Ahhhh-nold running. At he very least, he'd have a pretty sizable popular base of voters from name recognition...not sure about his politics. Ms. Rice would be a no-brainer!!!

Larry Elder--if he'd have us. He's the kind of smart libertarian--turned Republican of late--we desperately need in that office.

Simon may be good on guns but he's a waffler on illegal immigration. Schwarzenegger? We have real problems here, not celluloid ones. And, as others have said, his political views on some key topics are suspect.

Face it, though, it's not really about the Governorship. Unless we rid ourselves of a legislature increasingly stocked with radical leftists, this state is a runaway train to fiscal and social chaos.

I don't know if Tom McClintock is putting himself in line for the governorship. What I know of him I like.

I have no faith in Simon anymore. I also would like to see McClintlock run. Bill Jones, who was running originally, would also be great and has a high NRA rating. I'm not sure Arnold would be any better than Riordan. I like Arnold's fiscal stance, but he's not very strong on the freedom front I think. I'd still take him over anything the Democrats have to offer -- going from bad to tolerable is still an improvement over our current situation here.

So we're potentially going from disasterous to more tolerable? :( Of those potential Republicans positioning themselves to run, which one then would be the one to absoluely stay away from?

Do the Dems have any strong candidates to replace Davis or will he again run in an attempt to save his job?

10-ring: Even if the best candidate possible pops out of the woodwork, I don't see how we can get better than tolerable until the makeup of the legislature begins to shift closer to the center.

Does anyone actually have a list of who the contenders would be? Jones, Riordan, and Simon were the original Republican front-runners, but I don't know what their intentions are if the recall happens. I can't see the Dems doing anything except trying to rerun Davis or else run his mouthpiece, Torres.

If Bill Jones, the former Sec. of State runs he is rated A. Simon is a good choice too. I'm guessing he's learned not to trip over his tongue from the last campaign. Most of the Republicans in the State Senate and Assembly are pro-gun except for that slime McPherson. Arnold is a grabber. He is an Austrian used to gun contrtol and he is married to a Kennedy. Riordan is as bad as Davis.

Don't do what Chris said and waste your vote on a Libertarian. You will never see one elected to anything higher than dog catcher in your life time.

The problem is the DemocRATS in the Legislature. You have one marginally pro-gun in Dean Florez. He probably gets a C rating.

Ideally, you get a conservative Republican with a Latino last name.
