If I may?..Does anyone in the Houston, Texas area know if any shops that carry this model? Called around a few places and could not find one to look at and possibly buy. Some said they don't carry that junk, others said they're hard to come by. Any info appreciated.

Shipments from the fine folks at Tauri International in Brazil are sporadic
at best. Dealers can never tell exactly what each shipment may contain.
The weapon you ask about (Taurus PT111) is a good seller for us, but
unfortunately it is scarce for the time being. I think we have received
only two in the last few shipments; while receiving a whole bunch of
the PT140's, all black and with stainless slides. Looks like they probably
gear up on one kind'a production run; and run that until their backlog
is complete, before they start on another firearm~? ;)

Not sure what side of town you are in but give these guys a call
http://www.fountainfirearms.com/index1.html
Its about the only shop I deal with. They are a bit higher on there prices then the internet plus shipping and fees, and a little more then you would pay at the gun show. However they are a great group of folks and really stand behind what they sell. For me its worth the extra couple bucks to suport my local shop so to speak.

Go here and have one shipped to your FFL. At the prices listed above, even with shipping and transfer fees, you still save $$$. I paid $295 for my pt-140

Too bad you aren't in the Ohio area...I picked one up at the Berea show this weekend for $ 329.00, and love the way it shoots and hides. Accurate, very mild recoil, and 12 + 1 capacity. The mag springs are extremely tight, so getting the last few rds. in is a little tough, but I'm sure this will ease up in tim. Put a quick 200 rds of Blazer brass, UMC, and WWB, and not the hint of a hiccup.

Wow~! Guys, Those prices are outrageous~!
I sell the Taurus Pro PT-111 (blued) NIB, for $309.88, and (stainless top
models) NIB for $319.88 everyday~! Those dealers you folks are speaking
of are making a killing; at YOUR expense.

Yeah, those prices do sound high for the 111. I bought mine used for $225 (which was a bit high but it has Hi Viz sights) and usually see them around here for around $309.
The PT111 MilPro junk? The way that I see it the only junk was coming out of that dealer's mouth. I like everything about the gun. No, its not my HKs, Walthers, Sigs, or Steyrs, but it does everything that it's supposed to do exremely well and rides with me with my life potentially depending upon it. I own guns that are generally considered to be far nicer, but none are far better.

I would just make one suggestion make sure you get the stainless, I made the mistake of going with the blued and I have a small scratch by the safety that has a little orange mark, I oil it almost everyday after carry, but I am still kicking myself for not paying a bit more for a better finish. I would also say that if local shops are marking up their prices $40 or $50 over the internet then chances are they are making a killing, and you should ask them to match some prices, or just use them for the transfer. I paid $350 for my Mil Pro, but got a $70 gift card with it so not too bad, and I think the Mill Pro and 24/7 are some of the best guns for $ out there. I like mine, defiantly not junk.

Thanks for the info. I'd like to know if the pistol you guys bought came with 2x12 round magazines. Is that a standard package? One dealer said he could order one for me, with only one magazine, I believe the mags go for about $30 bucks. So I would have to buy an xtra mag. Just read where there is gun show coming up in about two weeks. Might just pay the parking/entry fees to see if I can a good deal there?

Eh, the only local places where I can get guns for as little as $30 more than I can find them online are large chains (Scheel's All Sports, Sportsman's Warehouse). The local shop charges as much as $50 or so over MSRP in some cases, and about $130-200 more than I can get a gun for online, if they even carry the gun. And their prices are even more inflated than that if it's an item over $1,000 (how'd you like a newly used Oly Plinker for $1,200?) Real shady characters, too. I'll buy my guns online and have them transfered for $20 through a local, reputeable, and friendly pawn shop, thanks. At least Bob's Gun Emporium and places like J&G Sales - places which are presumably local to some American city - will be getting money. Slightly different than buying at Wallyworld.

And for those who have questioned, I bought my PT111 Pro (Stainless slide) for $320 or so (I don't recall the exact dollar amount) about 3 years ago (time flies) and got two 12 round magazines with it. I carry it daily and have fired 1500 or so rounds through it without a single failure (no FTF, FTE, nothing). The bluing is starting to wear off the slide release and safety, but no rust problems aside from slight rust problems in the engraving on the slide a while back (which were the result to an overly acidic environment with high moisture and me forgetting to oil it, and sitting in a wet leather holster for several days unknown (some of you may be aware that stainless steel isn't, and has the propensity to rust in adverse conditions as well). A little elbow grease and some oil and the rust hasn't come back, however.
If you're only getting 1 mag, the dealer is likely shorting you, and if you're getting a 10-rounder, you're likely getting an older PT111 non-Pro mag (or a non-factory mag), which isn't (to the best of my knowledge) 100% compatible with the Pro.
