Fix for Damaged Metal Trigger Guard Mossberg 590A1???

Kicking myself in the rear! I let a bayonet in scabbard fall from a shelf and of course it hit the trigger guard of my 590A1, taking out a couple of nice chuncks right down to the shiny metal underneath the finish. Any suggestions on what to do?

Do you know what the metal is? If it's aluminum Brownells aluminum blackener works well but it's fragile and needs a clear overcoat.
