MTV is censoring word "gun" now
Zackmeister

I was watching MTV2 today on their rock program and they muted out the word "gun" in the new Seether song. Since when did "gun" become a dirty word? I hate the dang liberal media. I am trying to find an email address for the higher level muckety mucks, so if anyone here knows one please share.

MTV has been anti-gun as far back as I can remember. About 13 years. I have watched it just to see how anti-gun they are. However, they don't think a thing of promoting sex. It is a real PC anti gun station.

I cant remember the artist, song, station or any of the other lyrics, (I'm a font of information, I know) but I thought it was the height of idiocy the other day when I heard this on the radio, "so-and-so sitting shotgun with a s.....un." Oh, shotgun is okay if its refering to a car, but not the actual thing? Give me a break.

I don't watch MTV -- I find most of the "music" television haven't had music for years....mostly all rap and dumb reality television. Remember when they really did play music 24 hours a day....?:scrutiny:

Remember when Cindy Lauper was big? Me neither.
Seriously, MTV is a joke. It's targeted at the 18-25 consumer bracket, (the largest one) so you get a commercial every six minutes. The shows are stupid, the people are fake, and...hey, it's my generation. I'm so proud.
Go to the gym at my school, and there are like six big TVs. Every one of them will be on MTV, except for the ones over by the weights (the jocks like to watch ESPN while grunting and talking to their muscles). I get looks of shock and horror when people walk by and see me watching Fox News while I'm on the machines.
I love it.

MTV is irrelevent crap. I must say this isn't surprising. How would we think the ultra leftists trying to promote their ultra liberal agenda would treat an object that represents liberty?
I don't and will never view MTV or contribute to anything associated with it.

i find it interesting that liberal countries (think Europe) and liberal entities (MTV) are completely accepting of anything "alternative" (homosexuality, fornication, body mutilation, etc) but totally intolerant of anything traditional or founded on the one absolute truth.
when i think of the terrible things ive heard on MTV i find it incredible that they would censor anything - even if it ran contrary to their political agenda.

MTV is about the greatest waste of space and time ever
i would not be suprised if studies showed that it is responsible for the ailing educational system because our nation's youth become dumber every time they watch it
i cant believe ive watched it

MTV will show some of the crudest, vilest programming around, of course in the name of the 1st amendment.
Nothing wrong with that, except when you do not support the others.
Seems a little hipocritical to support #1, and denounce #2.

Not only do they promote the ultra liberal lifestyle (do as you like, no need to worry about responsibility), but they also control what music you hear on your radio. They turned music into a visual art form (and I use the term "art" very loosely here). I hate to think what would have happened to the great musicians like BB King if MTV were around then. But I've noticed radio stations cutting gun references as well. Drugs, violence and sex are all fine, just as long as no one has a gun.

Music is for listening, not watching.
I have locked out MTV so that i don't accidentally flip through it on the way to the History, Speed, FNC or Discovery channels.
Remember when Cindy Lauper was big? Me neither.
Unfortunately, yes.

Just returned from playing to myself the Keith Brion recording of "The U.S. Field Artillery March" done the way JPS did it himself, with the _seven_ pistol shots in the trio! (obviously a 1911!) Songs talk about smoking crack and picking up hookers, but NO, HELL NO, DON'T EVEN THINK OF SAYING "GUN" OR "GLOCK" ON THE RADIO!!!!!!!!!!
Seriously when I used to listen to that crap, "Ludacris" talked about when he was a kid using a "cap gun", and it went "cap ---."
Yep, they had to censor out "gun" in "cap gun". Geeze.

Sorry, guys, but I had to stay for "The Stars and Stripes Forever", too. (It WAS on the disc.) CZ, I think there's a difference between using music to psych yourself up for dangerous/virtuous activities and using it to dull your higher faculties. For what it's worth, I believe that Rock n Roll is to martial music as cocaine, etc are to natural neurohumors. I.e., the molecule _almost_ fits in the receptor, but not quite, and thereby jams things up so that one's brain never works quite properly afterwards. That's my theory and I'm sticking to it!:D Of course , if things are this bad, your only recourse is jug band music. It seems to make me feel just fine.

It might be a good idea to write our local cable Co. and let them know we hate MTV. It's past its prime and should be long gone.
A few thousand letters and maybe they will take it off the air. There will be one less anti gun show to teach our children against what we believe in.:(

:D Hahaha! Good memories! Back then they decided to censor out cigarette lighters because some little kid burned downed his trailer house and the mom blamed it on Beavis. I guess cartoon characters make little kids burn down their house and jump off cliffs like Wil'E.Coyote and The Roadrunner.
It was sad to see Beavis and Butthead go, but at least it spawned King of the Hill.

Try and have your cable company take MTV or the other slime off and see what you get. "We can't do that as it is part of the package." is what you will get. I want to say "can you understand remove cable", but can't as my mother lives with me and it is her entertainment during the day. If it wasn't part of the package then these things could not survive and would soon be gone. It is about time we told congress to have these cable companies unbundle so that we can subscribe to what we want instead of them telling us what to watch. My late wife and I did not have kids so MTV never has been on my watch list. Do I want Discovery-Wings? You bet, but I am not going to subscribe to the package it come in and get more slime. Just my small rant.

using up Mr. Volk's precious bandwidth and moderately expensive server time to knock down this particular straw man! Owhell, if I can't stop you I'll ante up: The only time I remember seeing something gun-related on MTV was a few years ago,on a program about "weird" sports. They were showing something about biathlon, and the guy with the rifle had (mistakenly?) handed it to one of the cool-lookin R&R doodahs, who immediately proceeded to wave the thing around in a scary manner. Owner of said rifle won my affection by the way he used his finger to deflect the muzzle of the piece from his face (softly, softly, catchee monkey) and by the expression on his face.
Awright, that said, there must be people here with nothing better to do, what? I mean, I thought _I_ was an underemployed slacker!

How much has MTV contributed to the short attention span of younger generations? Even if you weren't ADD, you darn well will be after about 1/2 an hour of split second scenes bombarding the senses. Like constantly watching movie previews. Sensory overload.
And people wonder why kids don't read books anymore.
With the way they irresponsibly portray sex, it's absolutely ridiculous that they'd take aim at guns. What a pathetic stab at being PC.
Sports. Discovery Channel. History Channel. News. That's about it for me.

My girlfriend constantly watches that crap station. I too noticed that in Nelly's song "Country Grammer" that both MTV and the radio mute the word "street sweeper". Makes me laugh everytime I hear it.
Personally, I'm more of a Discovery, TechTV, OLN and History channel kind of guy even though I do enjoy some of the current Pop Music out there (Nelly being one of them).

To each his own, that is what makes America so great, but those who watch MTV, I have to wonder where there minds are. Probably somewhere between illicit sex, porn and illegal drug use. I can't believe the garbage the entertainment industry is selling and what is even more disturbing, people are buying it...I better stop now, I think I feel a major rant coming and on, and since not every one agrees with me, I don't want to tick anyone off.
