Do you still have to hit it in the heart or head with a .45 silver bullet or would a silver .22 in the leg do the job?

Any Winchester Silvertip should work.

You don't need power, just silver. A .38 Special using a solid silver SWC moving at about 800fps would give plenty of power and the mild recoil will help with control.

After seeing Dog Soldiers (English Werewolf Flick - AMAZING MOVIE) I would want the following, again under the assumption of "what do I have/want?" and "a little silver goes a long ways."

Handgun: Sig P226(any model, but preferably the ELITE) in 9mm with 20rd mags, ultimate control and firepower

Rifle: Sig 552 SBR.

Sorry I know I've got a sig fetish, but I think that's all a boy needs, takes care of the pests and it doesn't hurt that your stuff looks good doing it! :p

Since of course hollywood has shown us time and again if you don't look good doing it, it doesn't matter what you do you won't last to the end credits!

Pfft sissy guns! Let's break out the S&W 500 with some 500gr silver coated bullets. I can feel my wrist aching already :D.

Or, better yet, if he has zombie backup lets go with a USAS 12, loaded with 000 silver(also happens to be heavier than lead) buckshot.

Werewolves regenerate awfully fast. I wouldn't count on anything out of a firearm to do the complete trick.

Instead -- empty your little pocket revolver into him to stun him and keep him busy, then pitch him out a window before he regenerates. Works as long as you're above the 13th floor or so.

(Got that trick from a friend.)

Well seeing how you need to hit it with three silver "bullets" I am guessing a shotgun loaded with silver buckshot would not work. Which would have been my first choice for one shot stopping. Second choice would be .223 with an M16 or AP4 set on three round burst.

Are we looking to kill the werewolf or stop the threat? It seems that if werewolves are allergic to silver, then any round which penetrated deeply enough not to be dislodged and contained enough silver to initiate anaphylactic shock would be sufficient to kill.

But if the goal is to stop the threat, you'd probably need to treat it like a very strong, very capable vicious animal. That would negate the smaller calibers and require something you'd normally use for defense against a mountain lion or black bear. The last thing you want is for the thing to be dying of a silver coated .22 round in it's gut while its feasting on your steaming carcass.

I'd say the shot counts, I mean what do you think they used in muzzle loaders? If the gun's caliber was .36 the shot would be a perfect fit.

bul·let n. A usually metal projectile in the shape of a pointed cylinder or a ball that is expelled from a firearm.

Pure silver is very difficult to make into bullets. I belive you have to *MILL* them. The easiest solution is to chop up silver coins and load scattergun shells with them.

And as fate would have it, the Barney thread is closed along with this one.
