The rear sight on my Glock 35 is becoming loose. So I am considering replacing my sights with tritium sights.
Any thoughts on what brand/model to get?

DoubleTapDrew May 4, 2007, 07:54 PM I'm planning on putting Meprolights on my Glocks. Everybody has their favorites. I think any of the top brands should be fine. modifiedbrowning May 4, 2007, 07:55 PM I have been happy with the Meprolights I have on my P99. PPGMD May 4, 2007, 08:00 PM I like the Tru-Glo TFO sights. I have a set of Meprolight sights on my USP Tactical they work ok, but not that great. Ethereal May 4, 2007, 10:03 PM Everybody has their favorites. I think any of the top brands should be fine. Pretty much it. Me personally I like Trijicon's. I would stay away from the T.F.O.'s though, they are not known for their strength/durability. possum May 4, 2007, 10:11 PM i prefer the trijicon's thats why i have them on my xd service, and any gun that i plan on putting three dot night sights that will be the kind i go with. they seem to be brighter in the day time, the white outlines really show up good. the meprolites are good and i have used them before but i prefer trijicon. also for reader info i like the xs 24/7 sights, they are great for old eyes, or young eyes alike that aren't so good anymore.:) i had a set on my 19 and loved them, and i plan to put a set on my xd sc .40 real soon. Wayne G. May 5, 2007, 12:10 AM +1 for TruGlo TFO. I've had Trijicon's and Meprolights on other guns, but I like the TFO's the best so far. My eye "finds" the front sight easily, even outdoors in sunlight. The brighter, the better. I opted for green front, yellow rear and I've been happy. lbmii May 5, 2007, 12:11 AM Has anyone tried a tritium ghost (peep) type of rear sight? http://cgi.ebay.com/AMERIGLO-GHOST-RING-NIGHT-GLOW-SIGHT-FITS-GLOCK-PISTOL_W0QQitemZ230118329521QQihZ013QQcategoryZ73948QQtcZphotoQQcmdZViewItem AZGunLover May 5, 2007, 12:12 AM I have trijicons on two of my Glocks and they both work great Gary G23 May 5, 2007, 07:44 AM I have Meprolights and one set of TruGlo TFO's. The TFO's have a much better daytime sight picture. However, if the pistol is for hard use, the Mepro's are much tougher. Ala Dan May 5, 2007, 07:56 AM Meprolight JDGray May 5, 2007, 09:34 AM I just installed Ameriglo Operator sights on my G19. Only the frt sight has a white outline, to help draw the eyes to the frt sights. The frt blade is also narrower, to help sight picture. :) ChickenHawk May 5, 2007, 10:21 AM I have Meprolites on ALL of my carry guns. I think there is a huge advantage to having the same sight picture no matter what gun is in your hand. Stay safe, ChickenHawk 10-Ring May 5, 2007, 10:41 AM I've had great luck w/ Trijicons DougW May 5, 2007, 11:05 AM XS 24/7 Big Dot's on all 3 Glocks. I love 'em. http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p118/MDWINK/IMG_0221.jpg :D Lonestar49 May 5, 2007, 01:17 PM ... I recently ordered both Trijicons, and NightSights, made, "night sights" for my Beretta. Trijicons took 3 wks to receive, and they only had (in stock) 2 dot white/glow-green rears, and the front white/glow-green. I wanted either rear orange, or yellow, but they only had the same color ones, in that time frame I waited. I got the NightSights in 10 days, and here is the good and bad of that. When I had both sets, I put them under a light for 10mins, then put them in the dark-place, side by side, and they both stayed glowing after 5hrs. But, as ordered, the NightSights, rear 2dots, were a bit wider, which I like, than the trijicons rear sights, and they where, as I ordered, white/glow-orange, and the front/s were white/glow-green, as as stated in their product research, that the front sight at night/glowing a lot brighter, green than the rear orange ones, as it should be, in order to separate the rears from the front easily, and fast, to get the front sight on target. The Trijicons glowed evenly, all 3 were the same brightness, but, the 2 rear sites are/where closer together than the NightSights 2 rear sights, which made it a bit tougher to separate them from the front, along with, being the same color, glowing green, could, and can, blend with the front green site. My final testing also showed, during the 5hr, no light, just glowing test, of both sights next to each other, that not only did the front NightSight out-glow the trijicons, in brightness, but in size - O - as well, which made it stand out so much easier and faster to acquire, both during the day, in white, and nightime, in glowing-green. Unfortuantely, the NightSights higher sight, and not beveled on the ends of the dovetail, along with, being a thicker dovetail, made them stand up above the barrel, not flush with it, as the original sights, along with, really didn't fit in the slot well. One side was flush with the bottom of the slot, and the other was not, making the sight slightly off camber. So, until I figure out who, or how, to first, bevel the sides of the front, NightSight, and thin its dovetail base down, along with, file down the straight, up and down rectangular sight, to a tapperd down, towards end of barrel, finish, as is the Trijicon front sight, I'm using a combo set of sights. Rear 2dots are orange, slightly wider, NightSights, and the front sight is the Trijicon, beveled (on the ends) , thinner dovetail, which fits flush with the gun barrel, along with a tapperd-down finish, that matches the gun, and doesn't hang-up, going in and out of my holster, as did the straight up and down, sharp, edged rectangle, NightSight, front sight. Been a long day getting it right, and even though I miss the brighter, bigger, front NightSight, and plan on getting it changed as mentioned to fit and have beveled ends, and go in flush with the barrel, the Trijicon front sight is very good, to these eyes. It just could be a bit better. LS PS.. The better, IMO, different colored NightSights, cost less than the Trijicons, and if they fit your style, offer more for less, bar-none IMO. CPshooter May 5, 2007, 03:41 PM I think the Novak 3-dot night sights are awesome. Nice design, and the 3 white circles around the tritium dots really catch your eye even during the day when there's sunlight. http://www.novaksights.com/genuine%20novak%20sights/glock.htm I had Heinie "straight 8" night sights on my XD, and i loved these sights too. They are very nice and I liked the 2-dot inline configuration for night-time use. I also like the overall design and construction w/ the serrated front and rear sights to reduce glare. They aren't that great for day-time use since they don't have any white rings painted around the tritium dots. I think they have a 3-dot version too, but like i said, since there's no white rings for day-time use you might as well just go w/ the 2-dot inline configuration since they seem to be quicker for night-time use. That was my experience anyways. http://www.heinie.com/318big.php I've also owned Meprolights on my G27, and Trijicons on my PM9. They are both quality sights and get the job done, but I'd still stick with either the Novaks or the Heinies. The TFOs look cool, but I'd only want one for the front sight. I like how the Sig Equinox guns have the sights set up. The TFO is in front so you can pick up the front sight very quickly, day or night. And two smaller dots from Sig's night sights in the rear. This way your eyes will always catch the front sight right away whether its day or night. psp7304 May 5, 2007, 05:11 PM I have had good luck with Trijicon and Meprolight on my Glocks and Kimbers. aubie515 May 5, 2007, 06:58 PM A lot of the companies that offer night sights will use Tritium vials from Trijicon. I've used almost every brand night sight and I find most to be on par, so pick which you prefer. Trijicon Mepros Ameriglo XS Heinie PT I haven't used Novak sights, but I would try them to compare. I'm not too fond of the TFOs. A lot of folks like them on the XD pistol, but to me they are too long and not as durable. I would be concerned about the fiber optic breaking on them when you are called upon to use your pistol. lbmii May 5, 2007, 10:01 PM Thanks guys for all the links. Lots to research. I was very close to commiting to the TFO but backed out because of concerns about how well they would hold up. I think I will outfit both my Glock 35 and my Glock 27. I am also considering a Tritium front bead for my Mossberg 590 A1 DA. Concerning the Ameriglo brand; the rear sight is clamped on somehow with I guess an allen bolt. Does this hold up OK? Does it have a clean look? JDGray May 6, 2007, 08:35 AM The Operator sight is a press fit, and I do mean press. Sight pusher required! The standard Ameriglos, do use an allen set screw, but dont know if they require a pusher. My sights do say "Trijicon" all over them:D
