Sometimes I do, when I do:

Most often :
-K frame , Model 64, 3" HB, RB , a dedicated .38spl with 158 gr "FBI load" LSWC-HP loads.

-Model 36, J frame, dedicated .38spl with 158 gr, standard pressure , LSWC (not hollowpoint)

-NAA Mini-revolver , .22 lr only, 1 1/8" bbl

-Also known to:

-1926 Colt Detective Special with the same loadings above for Model 36.
-Model 36 3" .38spl
-Model 10, 3" .38spl
-Model 13, 3" , full house 158 gr .357 LSWC, or LSWC-HP
-Model 65 3" Lady Smith with above loads.
-Model 66, in both Snub Nose and 4" , full house .357 loads
-Model 19 in both Snub Nose and 4" , full house .357 loads
-Model 29, 4" with full house .44 mag loads of LSWC or LSWC_HP

This is when I am not carrying a Semi, in 9mm, 9x23, or 45ACP

For several years I carried a Colt Diamondback. When I turned fifty I got a .45 semi auto...I've carried the semi for seven years. I've thought about going back to revolver, (I do like revolvers), but for now I'll stick with the semi.

-S&W 642 snubby, .38 Special +P, Buffalo Bore, Gold Dot, whatever ammo. Prefer 158gr, but I'm not really picky. Buffalo Bore +P stuff is too stout for the gun. This gun is my always gun.

-S&W 629 Classic, .44 Magnum. Yes, I CCW this. Federal 240 grain Hydra-Shock personal defense loads usually. Good stuff and is downloaded to be easy to control.

I almost never carry my Colt Gov't Model, which is the only autopistol I own.

I prefer pocket carry...but at the rate I'm loosing weight due to a recent bought with food poisoning, I may be able to IWB without purchasing new pants.

I feel comfortable in most enviorinments with a 642&CT405s in a DeSantis Nemesis. +Ps of some ilk. Sometimes I swap out to a Kahr PM9. Fits in the same holster.

If I'm headed for the great outdoors, I break out the 686 3 inch and carry the 642 as a bug. I have a nice "man bag" for the .357 and other necessary outdoor gear.

I am completely happy with this setup other than a truck gun BERSA BT380 with 10 rounds of CORBON DPX it is hard to justify purchasing anymore handguns.....but then again I have two more in mind.

I have other revolvers that I don't normally use as a carry, but they get alot of trigger time at the range:

Almost. Canada is pretty far and gone from you!:neener:

The size of any revolver with a 6"bbl makes it impractical for anything but open carry or home defence in my opinion. That's why I suggested to her the L-comp version. Of course, I would pack good 'ole slabsides, myself.

A big thank you to everyone who contributed to this thread. I will not update this thread anymore due to the number of entries. :)

the purpose of this thread is to find out what other calibers of wheel guns are use for ccw/BUG and oc , other than .357 Mag and .38 Special.

for some of the entires I had added the caliber for those who had forgotten to indicate and for some wheel guns it's just impossible for me to do it due to the fact than it may have more than 1 caliber chambered for it.

You are still welcome to contribute to this thread. :)

No offense to you personally dude, but you probably never will.

Didn't somebody say the same thing about a good chunk of the US a few decades ago?

Saying never means never. I'm saying sooner rather than later. Besides, how cool would it be for us to finally give some reciprocity to our Southern neighbors after all this time?

yes, a 642 airweight in my coat pocket or in a holster when hiking in the woods. I used emery cloth and a Dremmel tool buffing wheel and took off that ugly grey coating that came on it new... It's all just polished aluminum alloy now,,,pretty!

But I just got my first semi, a Browning BDA 380 and been playing with it an awful lot lately!

Yes, I have tried different semi-autos over the years, and for one reason or another none satisfied.

But I really enjoy my model 36 snubbie. It carries very easily in a belt holster OWB. When that is not convenient, I take it in a Mika front pocket holster, which works okay, but not great.

I'm presently trying my 4" model 14 on the hip, seeing if it is too bulky. The verdict is not in yet on that.

I alternate depending on where I am going. However, my .45ACP S&W 325pd (4 inch barrel) carries well with an IWB holster. I can wear it under a heavy polo shirt and it tucks up well. The fact that it is 28oz loaded helps as well. The full moon clips give a quick reload...a little harder to carry than a clip...but not much.

I've tried a number of guns, but I always go with my 340pd (Scandium) Smith revolver. It's hard to beat carrying 11 ounces of .357Mag power!! Ocassionally, if I'm heading over to the "other side of the tracks", I will pack the 329PD with full load .44mag. It's actually amazingly easy to carry.
I don't feel the need to carry a SA with 13-15 rounds....if I can't get it done in 5 or 6 (or get to a safe area), I'm in trouble anyway.

"Wheel guns" are towed behind vehicles; too big to carry. ;)

I carry and otherwise use several revolvers, so the singular nature of your post puzzles me.

Ruger SP101: I have several of these; the most-often carried has a 2.25" barrel, is chambered in .357 Magnum, and it is presently loaded with 145-grain Silvertip Hollowpoints, a magnum load. This is a back-up gun at work, and can be a back-up or "primary" when on my own time.

S&W Model Model 19: 4" barrel, loaded with the same Silvertips at the moment, but I need to shop for fresh magnum ammo soon, and will see what it likes. This is a new sixgun, and largely untested.

Ruger GP100: I have several of these, mostly 4", but also 3", 5", and 6". The one that I have owned the longest, since 1990 or 1991, has usually been loaded with Federal 125-grain JHPs. As that load seems impossible to find nowadays, I am going to try Gold Dots in various bullet weights.

For the last several years, I have mostly carried the same SIG P229 pistols on my own time that I use at work, on duty. The SIG factory sights have been working well with my aging eyes, until this year, causing me to default back to my revolvers, with which I point shoot better than autopistols. (I did NOT say "hip" shoot; I said "point" shoot; there is a difference!) Getting old is not fun. Of course, I kept carrying my SP101 snubbies through it all, for well over a decade now, regardless of what else I was carrying.

Edited to add: Ah, just realized I had replied to a necro-post.
