I love how AA#9 acts in my guns, but it drives me nuts in my press.

It is so fine, I get small amounts of powder migration that eventually jams up the powder bar.

What I have been doing is to disassemble the powder bar and clean it with alcohol every-so-often. Sometimes I can get a run of 3-500 rounds before it starts getting sticky. Sometimes it starts gumming up before I even get 100 rounds through.

It does seem to meter very consistent all the time, right up until it gums up and jams the press. Usually the first sign of the problem is that the case bell (I usually go very slight on this) will start getting bigger.

I know #9 is notorious for this... ANyone have any tips/solutions for this problem?

I had the same problem with my 550B using AA#9 and #5. Also on my 650 with #5.
I called Dillon and after a brief conversation, the guy sent me a new powder measure body and slide. He said that it was hit or miss when they are assembled and sometimes you get the "leakage".
The new parts helped some but did not completely eliminate the "leakage". :(

I was havingthe same problems with my 650. Dillon sent me new powder bars, then everything was o.k. They told me that they had sent out some out-of-spec powder bars.

Another fix is to use a drum-type measure, eg., Hornady, RCBS Uniflo, etc., with a case-activated kit. (Of course, you'll have to use a separate die for belling.)
