Restoring SKS original finish on one part - help needed

Hi,

I was cleaning a typical Yugo SKS with mineral spirits and did something really stupid - put the gas cylinder tube into the bin along with all the metal parts and forgot about it for about an hour. When I realized what I'd done, it was already well-soaked. I dried it up and saw the hand guard's beautiful near-perfect original finish fade somewhat as compared to the rest of the stock.

Is there any reasonable way to re-finish it back to match the rest of it? It was of the typical teak wood-like color and I loved it. Don't want to refinish the whole thing - have no experience with woodwork and not enough time. Most importantly, I totally liked the original wood look and feel.

Any tips will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

JP
