soooooo...maybe I'm finally done (rounded and simplified collection)

May 7, 2007, 07:16 PM
well...after many different brands, models, types, and calibers of firearms over the last 5 years...I think that I am finally done for a very long time...I finally decided to round off and simplify the collection to a total of 6 weapons;

Ruger GP100; .357 magnum; 6" barrel; stainless; range and hunting sidearm; secondary home defense handgun

Ruger SP101; .357 magnum; 3" barrel; stainless; all around sidearm (hunting camp, car, home, range)

Smith & Wesson 642; .38 spl +p; 1 7/8" barrel; stainless; CCW and home defense

Remington 870 Express; 12 ga; 3" chamber; 3 barrels (20" cantiliver mount rifled slug barrel w/ Mueller 2 - 7 x 32 Multi-Dot scope, 26" vent rib w/ double bead sights, 20" barrel w/ Hi-Viz adjustable sights; full assortment of chokes); what CAN'T it do?!?

Winchester M70 Black Shadow; .270 Winchester; matte blueing; ? 24" or 26" ? barrel; Bell & Carlson Carbelite thumbhole stock bedded and floated; Sightron 3 - 12 x 42 SII scope; deer & bear hunting, target, range, and 'in a pinch' defense

Winchester M70 Coyote; .243 Winchester; matte blueing & satin stainless; 24" heavy barrel; factory laminated stock bedded & floated; BSA 6 - 24 x 40 Huntsman scope; varmint & deer hunting, target, range, and 'in a pinch' defense

SEE YA!

NO collection is complete w/o a .22!

No EBR's... I don't agree, but understand... but no .22!:what:

I like the idea of consolidating your collection. I started doing the same thing last year, and I'm still working on the consolidation. I sold around 30 of my firearms last year because I felt like I had too many. I consolidated the calibers for reloading and simplicity reasons. I do not regret the decision and I'm actually happier freeing up so much space.

Until you find another great deal, or the latest greates gotta have it popper is introduced. Face it, you have a problem, you need gun therapy. You need more guns.

Where are you going??

Well, so much for your bug-out gun collection. What about the rest?

May 7, 2007, 08:14 PM
Too many??? There is never too many. I have to few.

May 7, 2007, 08:18 PM
Once in a while, I for a fleeting moment think I'm done. Then something else comes along that I MUST have. I thought that at 15 pieces, then again at 25, then 40, then 60 get the idea.

A few pieces in my collection gets shot a lot, many get shot a little and a bunch get pulled out and fondled every once in a while. I can't imagine many of them I'd like to get rid of. Every time I do I regret it.

May 7, 2007, 08:58 PM
That's a nice spread; you've got just about everything covered. +1 on the .22, though, you gotta train the new folks on something...

May 7, 2007, 09:04 PM
2 .357's? No .22? No milsurp?

You are not rounded yet.

May 7, 2007, 10:27 PM
No M1 Garand, no black rifle, no 1911, no Hi Power, no 22 pistol, revolver, or need to get out more! Your existence must be so joyless! $10 and a 22 gets you a full day of fun.

May 7, 2007, 10:30 PM
For the moment I have decided I won't be buying anything other than Sigs. We'll see how long that lasts! :)

May 7, 2007, 10:49 PM
I agree that he should have a .22 of some sort, now am I the only one who thinks that every collection should have at least one quality airgun as well?

May 8, 2007, 12:59 AM
No 22LR!?
No 45 ACP or 9mm? No 1911, Glock or any Browning classic? Come back here and finish what you started!!:D

May 8, 2007, 01:05 AM
No pistols ? No AR/AK ? No mil surplus ? :D

May 8, 2007, 01:23 AM
C'mon, the guy is obviously trying to "quit"! :D

Your peer pressure is not encouraging him to break the habit.

BTW. Is there a 12 step program for firearm addicts?:scrutiny:

Obvious problems I see (many of which have already been pointed out):

- No .45s (or 9mm if you fall on that side of the isle)

- No 1911s

- No milsurp (Mosins, Mauser, etc.)

- No 'black plastic' guns (eg Glock, Springfield XD, S&W M&P, etc.)

- No AR15, AK47 or other evil zombie killing rifle

- No .308

- No .22lr

- No novelty/fun guns (e.g. S&W 500 range gun, cowboy gun, taurus 44-ten, etc.)

I don't pop squirrels and I don't have any 'new folks' to break in; I do not like semiautomatic handguns...they come and go quicker than money in Paris Hilton's purse; I don't like semiautomatic rifles...can't shoot anything but paper with them here in PA; not a big fan of milsurp due to malfunctioning platforms and having problems getting parts; I don't shoot waterfowl or enough 'flushed' game birds to need a semiautomatic shotgun...y'all gettin' the picture...

simplification and limiting the number of firearms to feed helps with debt consolidation and budgeting so I can start thinking about putting money aside to buy property and my own house in 5 to 7 years...renting sucks! :cuss:

OK --- Here is the official rule of firearms collecting - one for every year of your life!

Of course if you want you can make that one for every year of your life for each collection category.

So if you collect Ruger revolvers and Military rifles and you are 30 yrs old you should have 30 of each.

May 8, 2007, 10:47 PM
Well, I can understand.

You're young yet. It'll pass.

Once you're settled into the house and got your landscaping done and all that, you'll find that lawn mowers and BBQ grills and all that other stuff from ordinary hardware stores just won't be enough.

And then, one day, in a little pawn shop, or a sporting goods store, or at a yard sale, there it will be.

It will call to you.

And you'll be back.

We'll be here.

"You can't win, you can't break even, you can't get out of the game."

due to circumstances beyond my control...I won't be posting threads like this anymore...y'all have fun

May 9, 2007, 02:02 AM
Uhh, guys?

Who was that masked man?

May 9, 2007, 02:13 AM
He may not be able to post any more because you guys made him go off and sell his computer to buy more guns:evil:
