Hi all,

I just bought an old Remington 1100 (made in 1968). The small metal edge on the top inside portion of the receiver (the part that I *think* hits the top edge of the locking block assembly to stop the bolt's backward progress) has a small gouge in it. It almost looks like the locking block assembly may have gouged it. It's not a big gouge... but it exposed the raw silver metal, and is a bit rough to the touch.

Is this something to be concerned about? What would you suggest I do? Anything? Nothing? Maybe smooth it out a bit with a dremel? Keep in mind that I haven't fired this 1100 yet. I'm still in the process of cleaning it, and replacing the big springs and o-ring. Thanks for the help!

Ya know... now that I've more of my 1100 Shop Manual by jerry Kuhnhausen, it sounds like the part of receiver that is gouged may actually lock the bolt into the closed position, as opposed to how I originally suggested.

Sorry... I'm new to 1100's (my first semi-auto). This 1100 Shop Manual is awesome!
