What load do you load the most?

I've been reloading for about 35 yrs, and have just resently found myself loading 1 load a lot more than any other. I've been gifted with large quanities of 44 mag brass ( about 4000) and have been having a ball loading and shooting 8 1/2 gr. of Unique under a cast 240-250 gr bullet of almost any shape and it's been great! Give approx. 1000 fps from a 4 in S& W 629 and 4 5/8 in Stainless Ruger. I also shoot it out of a Win 44 Mag. Traper, and I think it does about 1200 fps out of the 16 in. barrel. Pretty mild but a lot of fun and it's pretty cheap also. What caliber and load do you use the most? ;) I have other favorite loads in other Cals. but this is the 1 I've been loading the most for the last 6 months! :D

I've loaded a bunch of 45 ACP in the past but right now 38 Special tops the list.

Now it's about a tie between 9x19 and .45ACP.

Just a quick estimate, but in the last 25 years I've handloaded and shot, just over 3 tons of cast bullets. The majority of those were .45 acp, with a good amount of .38's being a distant 2nd.

HOT LOAD, REDUCE BY AT LEAST 10%, OBSERVE RESULTS, AND ADJUST FROM THERE!!!

.223 77 gr SMK seated to mag length, 24.2 gr RL-15, LC case, Rem 7 1/2 primer.

Load so much of it I'm surprised the press can't do it by itself.

Steve, what velocity do you get with the 77SMK's out of what barrel length?

Umm, IIRC a little over 2700 (maybe 2750? its been a long time since I chronoed it). Barrel is 20".

Will shoot into about 2" at 300 yards (maybe better, I am lousy with a scope), if wind doesn't get you.

The .45 ACP wins hands down since I have shot it in Bowling Pin, Bullseye, Steel. IDPA matches and PPC-type matches.
I also shoot it in a couple of .45 ACP subguns occasionally. I loaded a lot of 230 grain LRN .45 bullets and a lesser amount of 200 grain SWCs for target stuff. Now I mostly use surplus 230 FMJs. It's about time to buy some more of them.

The .38 Special probably comes in second. Every so often I collect every empty .38 brass in the house and load them with a 158 grain LSWC and a medium dose of the old Unique powder.

The .30-06 was third for a while because I shot it in HP. Then I got an M1A and started loading .308s with a 147 grain Winchester pull down bullet with enough H4895 to send it out at 2,550 fps.

Lately, I have been loading a lot of .45 Colt, with 9 grains of Unique under a 250 grain Speer LSWC. Another high volume load is a .44 Mag with a Hornady XTP 240 grain JHP over 13 grains of Unique.

.45acp is #1 with plinking 45-70 loads #2 .308 is coming on strong though with my L1A1 requiring copious amounts of ammo to keep it and me happy!

Vast majority is .45 ACP, Commercial LRN 230, 5.3 gr. 231.

Quite a bit of .38 SPL recently. LSWC 158, 4.5 of 231, LRN 158, 4.0 231, 130 FMJRN 4.0 WPT.

.45 Colt. 250 commercial LSWC, 9 gr. Universal OR 9 gr Unique. 276 home cast LSWC 9 gr. Universal.

Seldom load 9x19 lately in light of bargain factory at Academy and Bass Pro. Have loaded bunches of 124 JHP with 4.6 Universal.

Best,
Johnny

45 ACP - 5.5 gr. Unique - 230 gr. RNL

45 Colt - 8.0 gr. Unique - 255 gr. LSWC

These two are a neck and neck tie for most loaded.

45acp, 4.9 grns Bullseye, cci300 primer, 230 grn FMJ, 1.262 COL.

Mostly .40

followed by 10mm

then .45.

If factory 9mm weren't so darn cheap, it would probably displace the 10mm in the number two slot.

poof...

45 ACP either 200 gr SWC Laser-casts or 230 Hornady XTP's with 5 grains of Titegroup or IMR PB (I prefer Titegroup, more consistant mettering). :D

I definately load .44 mag the most

I have been loading for .454 al lot lately, also

I can tell what I load a lot of by the setup

If it's set up in the quick change die holders for my RL550B then I reload frequently for it.

45 ACP - 230 gr LRN (Precision black bullets) on top of 6.0 gr Unique and CCI # 300 Large Pistol Primers. Range brass. I think one of the local PDs has switched to 45 ACP. I haven't had to buy brass in a long time.

Just finished a lot of 4000 9mm. I load a 121 grain HAP over 3.8 grains of Titegroup, mixed brass, Federal small pistol primers.

Followed by 10mm, .38/.357, and .45.

I compete with a Glock 35, so 40 S&W gets my #1 spot by a long shot. I shoot a 165 gr Montana Gold FMJ over 6.5 grains of Unique. Then, probably #2 is 9mm 124 gr FMJ, then 45 ACP 230 gr FMJ.

1. .45 ACP, 200g LSWC over 4.3 gr of Clays

2. 7mm STW, 140gr CT Ballistic Tips over a hearty portion of IMR 7828

.41 mag with enough blue dot to fill the case if i double charge. haven't done that, but is a possibility however remote.

Laser-Cast and UPS have better annual financial reports because of me.
i load other calibers, but, .41 gets the bulk of my reloading funds.

38 Special is comfortably in first place

140gr cast bullet
6.0gr Power Pistol

Lost track of how many rounds I have gone through

45 ACP is in second place. Since I stopped shooting IPSC I don't load 45 near as much.

225 gr cast FN
6.9gr Power Pistol
