What's the difference between the model 10 and the model 29? They look nearly identical. I have a 29 and am curious about parts interchangability and such. Thanks.

I will have to go back to my parts books for this one,
I know the lifter in the M10 is a flag that pivots along one side of the frame.
I know that the 29 was an updated version.
i don't remember if the 29 was the one that ended up as an early Ithaca 37 or if it still had the flag type lifter, that I have to check.
But my if my menory is correct answer is no,
But let me get back with you.

The Type of Remington that was somewhat copied for the Ithaca 37 is the Rem. Model 17 (only in 20 ga.), just like the Model 12 Winchester roots were visible in the Savage 1921/1928.
The Remington Model 10 and 29 both seem similar, because the 29 is a later version of the 10, but the versions are not likely to have parts interchange, except for some of the minor pieces.
The real bug is that some parts for the model 10 differ from the era of manufacture, and had a series of non-interchangable parts versions. As they tried to make the basic design less sensitive to wear (which caused slop and malfunctions or stoppage) the feeding and ejection needed enhancements throughout the Model 10 span until the changes stabilized into the Model 29.
At least these were able to be taken down into short assemblies very quickly, but the Model 17 had the longer frame/stock/tube assembly that was not very compact, just like the 37.
The 10 and 29 are not easy to fix, very few really understand the workings, and some get so worn that fixing is unlikely, and a lot of wasted effort is necessary to prove that to some. Most shops would avoid even taking one in after a few have bitten them, just like those Winchester 1911's, Boito, some Richlands, Jennings/Raven/Bryco etc.
After these various tries at success, the Remington Model 31, a real classic for reliability, was offered in 12, 16, and 20. The sales of the 17 and 29 were discontinued just a couple years after the 31 arrived. Of course, that was the time of the great financial swindle that the misled call the "great" depression. The only gun that could replace the 31 was
