Tell me about the different types. Which type have you had success with and recommend?

I use the RCBS one that screws into my Rockchucker press. Works great. As I recall I bought the basic puller and then you buy different size collets (?) - depending on what size bullet you are pulling.

I like the Forster collet puller for rifles. No muss, no fuss.

If I only have a few rounds to pull down I break out the Midway kinetic puller.

If I have more than a few I set up the Hornady Cam lock collet puller. It only takes a few seconds per round (put round in shellholder on press, ram up, locking lever down, ram down, remove case, locking lever up and catch bullet in hand as it drops out) and when adjusted carefully you can hardly even see that the bullet has been pulled the only marks will be from the case neck. The only disadvantage is that you have to have so many collets if you load a lot of different calibers.

I also use the RCBS ... and YES, you do have to buy a collet for each really distinct diameter you want to pull ... the .30 cal collet, for example, pulls both .308 (NATO) and .312 (Com-Bloc) 7.62mm bullets.

A possibly novel use ... I found a perfect soft-nose substitute for the FMJ's that come in my 7.62x54R mil-surp, so I just pulled a few FMJ's and popped in the soft-nose replacements to make some quite good hunting ammo ... corrosive, but perfect in every other way.
