I'm sure someone here knows this off the top of their head:
1. How many loaded .45ACP rounds fit in a .50cal ammo can?
2. How many loaded 9mm rounds fit in a .30cal (.30-06-size) ammo can?

Loose, boxed or bagged? In Georgia Arms bags, abt 750 of their .45's.

This may not help much, but I just found out that a .50 cal can holds 20 50-round boxes of Winchester White Box (1000 rounds) just perfectly. All the rounds are still within their boxes.

A .50 calber ammo can holds a smidge over 2,000 9mm rounds... and is really, really, heavy.

FJC,
So if it holds 1000 rounds boxed, it should hold more than 1000 rounds loose. Ok. That's a good start.

I can get 750 rounds of 45 200g SWC in a 30 cal ammo can.
Never tried a 50 cal can, It would be too heavy.

In a can approximately 7" tall, 4" wide and 10" long, I normally fit about 750 rounds of 45 acp w/ no problem. The problem comes in trying to carry it & my range bag.

1435 in a 50 cal can and it is heavy.
About 60 pounds.:)

I load 350 into a .308 can, two Winchester value packs and three 50 round boxes of anything else will fit fine, but getting the value packs out is a little rough as they are about as wide as the ammocan but removing one of the 50rd boxes first makes it easy. Not too heavy, and a lot more ammo than I can shoot in a day (or at least afford to shoot in a day).

[Edit, oops, its not a .223 can]

M2's count works for me; I just loaded 1500 rounds of 200gr SWCs and couldn't quite seal the lid on the 50 cal can; no problem though because the overflow went downrange shortly afterwards.
Ditto for the 30Cal can: 750

... the meaning of life.
For a .50 can:
10 boxes of 50 rounds of .40SW
or
24 mags of 32 round Sten mags.
or
54 boxes of 20 rounds of .223
or
1 box of 100 round value-pak 12 gauge shells plus lots of room left for loose shells.
(edited to add which type of ammo can)

I managed to get 813 rounds of .45 ACP (with a 200 grain SWC bullet) into a .30 cal ammo can.
