My buddy just bought this gun. He is waiting for the BG check period. He said he loves the look and how it handles. I have never seen one in my life b4. Anyone have a pix of it, can I take a peak??? What are the interesting features that I need to look for? How does it compare to a basic SA 1911 models?

Compared to a 1911 it is massive. Compared to small import cars, it's massive.

The operation is similar to a 1911 with the addition of a decocker and DA ability. It's takes double-stack magazines. It has a threaded barrel for the ever necessary silencer and a rubber o-ring to lock the barrel in place.

Aside from the substantial cool-factor, it's overpriced for what it offers. A full-sized USP is nearly identical and substantially cheaper.

It MIGHT have an ambi safety (not sure) but it has raised sights so you can see over the can that you might mount on it. It also has a 'Match' trigger...maybe smoother, lighter and a shorter reset, I guess?

I own the USP 45 fullsize and a SA Loaded. My shooting buddy just picked up a Tactical and also has a SA Loaded. Purely subjective, but to me the USP45's are the best non1911 45 auto's. Yes they are chunky as compared to the 1911's. However, I find them much more ergonomic as compared to say a Glock21. USP triggers in general need rounds on them to smooth out. The Tactical comes with HK's match trigger. The USP's especially the .45's are ACCURATE combat guns. The Tactical takes the accuracy level a little bit higher with the addition of an O-ring on the end of the barrel. The O-ring is used in place of a bushing, like on a 1911. The O-ring is supposed to give better consistency in the muzzle end of the barrel to slide fit. Whether or not this works, I don't know. Of course the barrel on the Tactical has threading on it. The one thing I don't like about the Tactical is that the sights are very high and are black only. This is done this way so in the event of a suppressor being used, the sights clear the suppressor. Also, the sights are black versus the more common 3 dot sights. I recently read somewhere that Army special forces are using 1911's and USP's/Tacticals and regard them highly. This is NOT a confirmed report!!! However, I would think the USP/Tactical would make the ultimate military pistol. Two features I love on the USP/Tactical is the mag release and the control lever for working the safety/decocker. I may be wrong, but I think the Tactical has an ambidexterous control level, whereas the USP, in Variant 1, is on the right side only. I have found the mag release is best utilized using the trigger finger pushing down. It makes for very fast mag changes. This mag release is also found on the Walther P99. Also, check out HK Pro (http://www.hkpro.com) for info on the gun. It is a great source for info on anything HK.
Hope this helps.

I just bought a USP45F myself because of the following reasons:

1) The Glock 21's grip girth is too much for my hands. The USP45 feels just fine.

2) It weights less than my Springfield Milspec.

3) I like the look of it. It looks chuncky but the numbers say otherwise.

4) I like the cock/lock option.

5) I can't find any other lightweight gun that carries 10rnds of .45APC besides the Glock 21.

6) Handles +p+ rounds without a problem. Important when carrying hot loads in the wild.

7) Goes well with my all black suits.

I have the HK Expert 45 & USP 45, I'd own a Tactical if the state of CA didn't find too evil for its civilian populous to own.
My bias opinion is that they're one of the most versitile, most reliable & most accurate guns you can own. Congrats to your buddy!

I have a Tac and .45c. I have owned and shot a ton of .45's, the Tac is probably my fave. I shoot it better than any other. I do feel that HK's in general are a bit overpriced, but they shoot well for me and I'm willing to pay for what I like.

here is mine.

The USPTac is nice. It doesn't come with the ambi safety, that you'll have to get later. I have both the Tac and a USP45f, and to be honest, I see no difference in accuracy with my handloads. For me the USP45f is faster shooting, maybe due to the lower rear sight. The Match trigger in the Tac is nice from the get go, while the standard trigger got smoother with use. Now I cannot tell a difference in pull.

My dad got bit by the H&K bug a while back. He got the USP .45, Tactical, 9mm, and USP-C 9mm. He liked the sights on his Tactical so much he ordered a set and had them mounted on his USP .45. When we did comparison shooting at 50 feet, guess what? The difference is accuracy was negligible! :what: They both produced 1 hole groups.

BTW, I really think that front sight looks silly. Too big.
