I'd like to expand my field of input a bit. Can somebody list a few other related forums?

Thanks :)

Vermonter,

Everything you need to know can be found right here at the good old THR. Now please return to your seat and fold your arms in your lap nicely. ;)

All kidding aside, I enjoy AR15.com from time to time, and although very rudimentary, the forum at http://www.backwoodshome.com/ is enjoyable for me as well.

24hourcampfire.com is decent for hunting, but there are some Fudds there so you might want to avoid the political discussions

snipershide.com is a great place to go if you're interested in long range shooting

brianenos.com is great for info related to action shooting

ar15.com is also a good source of info, but a lot of the thread topics are repetitive (ie: which handguard should I buy, which stripped lower, etc.) and there's a lot of the "better=mil spec" mentality, which may not be a good way to guide your purchases. ie: a chrome-lined barrel and 1:7 twist are often described as being mandatory, when neither is absolutely necessary for the vast majority of shooters. The Equipment Exchange there is the best place I've found to buy an AR.

czforum.com is good for finding info about CZs, but doesn't have a lot of traffic and has too many sub-forums IMO

all that being said, THR is the site i frequent most often because there are people who know a lot about almost anything firearm related.

rather than say "Fudds", say "Adults". Big difference. Children don't last long. They just banned Maser.
The debates there can be rough for the young, the uneducated, and the unprepared. :D

AR15.com - is great if your into building your own ARs. The equipment exchange there is probably the best on the net. I also like the hometown forums where you can chat with residents from your home state. My only problem is the layout can make your eyes bleed after awhile, and the notion of paying for a $30 membership on a site that has almost a whole page of banner ads. Seems to me like the owner of the site is less of a 2a advocate and more of a $$$ advocate.

Armed Polite Society - is related and I am suprised it has not been mentioned since its run buy the same guy that runs this site. Its where the threads Art locks go to die.

FirearmsTalk - A new site run where the moderation is lax, although theres not much activity there now. They have a pretty good general forum there and off topic things don't get locked down. Theres a lot of industry guys there, as well as a few tactics instructors.

AR15.com = 20 somethings, "You should have drawn down", "best zombie gun" . I am surprised by the number of kids on the site with a thousand or so posts that suddenly exclaim, "I'm getting my first rifle!". Oh and dont forget the homophobia!
Gunsnet.net reminds me of this site. MATURE posters with real world experiance treating eachother with respect. Great CnR area too. Uzitalk and machinegunbooks are both good too.

Guys, this thread has the potential to be a great resource. Just keep in mind that badmouthing other forums is against the rules here and will result in the thread being shuttered by moderators. I, for one, would hate to see that happen. I've seen new links to forums I didn't even know existed as well as links to forums I had visited in the past, but had forgotten about.

Frugal Squirrel's is a good site for survivalist/political/firearms info or insights.

The owner, John Manniaty, owns a gun store in VT.

Lots of good info and many libertarian-minded folks.

Lots of "How to" info (including videos) on many skills that the average sheeple probably doesn't have a clue about.

I know the rest of the site has been going through some problems but I frequent the individual state and the all US forums on packing.org. Gives a pretty good update on what is going on in states I am interested in concerning concealed carry. Most of the information on the rest of the site is best replaced by going to handgunlaw.us which is a great up to date site for concealed carry but no forum.

I see a lot of sites listed here that I have forgotten about and some I currently look at. since I found this one though, I spend most of my reading time here.

Now we all joke about fighting off waves of zombies, but are those guys for real? Thats the kind of crap that makes gun owners look like lunatics

Sigh. From the Zombie Squad webpage:

This forum was designed for Survival Enthusiasts to have a place to share ideas for preparing for crisis situations. The goal we set for ourselves is to have what it takes to survival a Zombie Outbreak. Our survival expectations are this because we believe that there is nothing more horrifying to prepare for.

This does not mean we do not take the potential zombie threat seriously but we do understand that outbreaks are rare. However, this does not interrupt our preparation. Even if there is not a zombie outbreak any time soon other situations can come up to disrupt your life such as hurricanes, violent viruses, terrorism, chemical accidents, in-laws, blackouts, etc.

If you can be prepared for a scenario where the walking corpses of your family and neighbors are trying to eat you alive, you can probably be prepared for just about anything.

-----

Go read the forums sometime and browse their pages. The humor part is the Zombie outbreaks, but the reality is that they are actually a general emergency preparedness forum.

Here is a forum you might enjoy, click the logo:
http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p169/twiggman/weird%20stuff/NES_front_logo.jpg ( http://northeastshooters.com/vbulletin/index.php )

C'mon over for a visit, you'll find lots of good info on how to obtain a License To Carry as a resident or non-resident for any of the New England states, Local gun shows, Public gun ranges, Sportsman's clubs, Gun Shops, Hunting, Fishing, Survival, Competitions and much more.

These folks are social bunch and we get together for shoots throughout the New England area.
There was a shoot up in Vermont last spring anad a car shoot in Maine as well.

Here's a few pics from our most recent spring shoot we had here in Mass yesterday.

Here's a pic of the rifle range
http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p169/twiggman/weird%20stuff/Spring_ShootRifles.jpg

What ya can't see from the last pic !
http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p169/twiggman/weird%20stuff/Spring_shoot_Ma_Deuce.jpg

...and the pistol range before the action began...
http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p169/twiggman/weird%20stuff/SpringShoot_Swingset_O_Death.jpg
Note the "Swinget O' Death swinger target, this was fabricated by one of our members out of what appeared to be 1/2" steel and proved capable of withstandinig repeated direct hits from several S&W .500's.

It was fun watching the .500's actually send the steel in a full circle !
