I just got a winchester model 47. It's a single shot bolt action that takes .22s, .22l, and .22lr. It's in pretty good shape with only a few dings in the stock and only needs to have the grease cleaned out of the action and barrel. I can't find any online references to this gun. Any info, including how to strip it down to clean it, would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
mole

If no one here chimes in, try a search (please) at the Winchester section here:

1949 to 1954, about 43,000 made.

My 2-year-old Blue Book shows a price of $200 in 95% condition.

Getting bolt out is probably a matter of holding the trigger back or pushing on the safety or holding the trigger and messing with the safety, etc. Heck, try gently pushing on the trigger to see if it frees the bolt. IOW, I don't have a clue

Thanks for the info. That's all I've been able to find on the net. I figured out how to take the bolt out easy enough, but what I want to know is how to take the bolt apart to clean it. The trigger was pretty straight forward.

Thanks

let the bolt assy., sit in brake cleaner for a few days, then blast it out with fast moving hot water, then dry it off, and oil her up.
