I recently bought some beater guns from a member here on THR, and I figured I'd show everyone what I did to them, because it was fun to do, and while they need some finish work and a bit of stain/ refinishing, they're fun enough to share. (I'm working on putting togeather a low budget independant zombiekiller film these will be props for that film)

all are legal length barrel is 18.5 inches, overall length is 26.5

It's my first attempt at any kind of woodworking so go easy on the criticism, the next pair will be done using the experiance gained from these. (pair of NR Davis doubles) I will be reshaping the grips a bit to be more consistant, then sanding and refinishing them to more closly match.

Well I performed the initial cut down and a little bit of restoration, so without further adoo.

Those are legal length? Interesting. I am assuming these will be fired with blanks, only? If I remember the thread in question, the seller stated they were dubious quality? Nice cut down job, byw - Max would be proud.

Utility aside, older shtoguns should be checked out by a competent smith before firing even one round.

The shotguns look like Crescents but may be old Belgian clunkers.

These old cheap guns wore loose fast. In Casa McC they'd be regarded as shotgun shaped artifacts rather than shooters.

Have fun, but please go carefully.

They're mostly blank guns, the 20 gauge is actually quite tight and crisp, the 12 gauge is a good fit, but needs the lug engagement surface to be shimmed to get rid of excess play.

If I shoot any live ammo throug them I will use sub calibre adapters to throw at most .44 magnum rounds through them.

the extra 1/2 inch of steel in the chambers should keep it safe.
