Egyptian 8mm Mauser, loaded in 1956. The "snake"-looking thing stands for Egypt, the "V.9backwards7" is 7.92, and the "07" is "56".

Have you fired any of this ammo? I forgot to mention that the green stripe on the box is supposed to signify "tracer", but I'd expect the bullet tips to also be colour-coded green. It'll be corrosive, regardless.

Is there any way I could tell if they were tracers without shooting them?
The tips are not painted...should I pull one apart?

If you pulled a bullet, you'd be able to see either some tracer compound or a thin copper cup in the base of the bullet (if they're tracers); otherwise, they'll just be ball rounds that someone stuck in an old box.

I have never seen a tracer before...I do not think this bullet looks any different...please tell me if you believe this round to be a tracer.
