Selling more guns. What would be a fair price to ask for a S&W .357 model 686 Plus, (7shot) with a 3" barrel and round butt. Original box and papers. I have never fired it, and I was told that the original owner only fired it about 100 rounds. Great condition, except the face of the cylinder, where the bead blast finish was apparently brushed off when cleaning by the previous owner.
Not a standard model. According to S&W it is one of 535 that was made special order for a distributor in 1999. They had a 3" barrel and bead blast finish.

Don't have my blue book handy, but I'd pay $375-425 after seeing some pictures. Wood grips? I would pay up to $525 were it NIB, but then I'm a sucker for a 3" revolver.

Given the cult-y status of 3" L-frames, $400ish doesn't seem an unreasonable asking price at all.

686P-5 was MIM parts, frame mounted firing pin, but *no* internal lock, if I am not mistaken.

Only the 686P-4 was better. But its a 3 incher.....

yah, you should easily get above $500 new.

Not necessarily bad, but it the earlier guns with forged parts bring more money. Since yours is a 3" though, that makes up for it! I think $450 would be a good price.

For what it's worth, S&W currently produces a 686P 3" - although it has the generally less desirable internal lock. That, and the fact that your -5 has MIM parts, means it probably won't go for a premium. Still, used S&Ws, even recent production, often go as high as the mid-4s.

Don't really care about how much money it would bring. I like the darn thing and don't want to get rid of it. Got my 3" 686-5 Plus for $325. Almost not even shot. I think I'm going to start carrying it, despite the fact that it doesn't offer the number of rounds most semi-autos do.

The quotes here are way too low. $650 is the minimum, especially in the bead blast finish, which makes it rare among the scarce.
