Wow - I was just checking around on Uberti Walkers - they apparently just instituted a price increase - about 9%. That, or the local dealer is full of BS.

The prices I've checked are pretty high though - Cabelas is $399 and that's with shipping or sales tax if I pick it up local! Dixie is still pretty good at $340 but of course, there's shipping on top of that too. Midway is similar at $345.

I guess they are pretty popular :)

With the exception of Arms2Armor and Dixie, these are the same prices I surveyed about 6 weeks ago; the Arms2Armor prices are slightly lower now and I did not have a price from Dixie then.

I should note that Cimarron, Taylor's, Cabela's, EMF and Buffalo Arms do not specify the manufacturer, although it's pretty certain it's Uberti and not Palmetto.

Yes, the Uberti Walker is expensive. And popular. Wish I could afford one.

The Euro is getting quite expensive, 1 euro is around 1.35 US dollar.
Still guns are low priced in America in my view, even when they come from Euro country Italy. A while ago I paid 375 euro, that's 506 US dollar, for my Walker.

It get's even worse.
Drooling over the BFR revolver in 45/70 (blackpowder round), 899 US dollar retail in the States, I see 'm advertised here regularly for around 1300 Euro, which is around 1755 US dollars.
That, my dear fellow shooters, is downright shocking :what:

Note on the S&S price: I ordered one from them at the $280 price, but when it finally arrived the price had gone up to $295. They did offer to take it back, but it was still agood price so I kept it. :D

I couldn't help myself and ordered from Midway for $310 yesterday (plus shipping of course) - they give you a deal on your birthday :)

So I guess I did fine - just seems like the prices are going up... but I guess not - the local dealer is therefore, full of it - or, just up with the price increase because he keeps so few in stock.

I will say that I think $310-$375 is a great price for what you get - look at the workmanship involved.

Guess I'll have to go see what to sell from the existing collection to pay for this...

I'm not surprised that S&S's price went up - the effect of the increasing Euro will be seen in many of the prices I surveyed. Several suppliers don't stock many Italian guns for that reason and you will see increases for the "special order" or new stock guns.

I'm going to call Deer Creek at the end of this month and see if they've been able to hold that $299 price.

... an Uberti Colt Walker!

Here is the Uberti replica of an 1847 .44 Cal Colt Walker ball & cap revolver that I bought 4/28/2007 at Cabela's. (Shown here over a S&W J frame revolver - The Walker is BIG!):

Cabela's sells these Colt Walkers for $400 + Tx, but this one was an unfired return in perfect condition in the bargain cave.

They were asking $340.99 (+ Tx) for it but first I dickered the price down to 309.77. Then I invoked the special savings mailer that they sent me that subtracted $85.00 more from the purchase price. Then I used the $88.50 in Cabela's charge card points that I had accumulated and they subtracted that amount also. Bottom line was I got it O.T.D. for $158.15. (Plus I earned $20 more in Cabela's card points for my next purchase as well!)

These Uberti's have an engraved cylinder, same as the original, that says "USMR" (United States Mounted Rifles), and depicts Texas Rangers shooting Indians off their horses! Here's a picture of the cylinder engraving:

It also has all original markings, such as "US" over "1847" over the wedge on the right side of the frame.

The Uberti is considered the best of the Walker replicas because they are built of all forged steel (barrel, cylinder, frame, backstrap, etc.) no cast steel - only the trigger guard is made of solid brass (as is the original). And the fit/finish is the superior of all other Walker repros.

This was the world's most powerful handgun from 1847, (when it was built for Captain Walker of the Texas rangers by Samuel Colt to replace the (too ineffective) Colt Paterson for the Mexican/Indian wars) to 1935 when the .357 Magnum was introduced.

My son & I took it out last Saturday to the range and it shot very well - very accurate even at 50 yards (we seldom attempt 50 yards with a handgun, but the Walker was well up to it)!

I got the chance to check one of these monsters out the other day and I've got to admit, I'm coveting.

I just can't help but think that if you took the rammer off of the loading lever you could use the loading lever like a pintle mount. Maybe drill a hole in the top of a fence post and stick it down in the hole to help hold it up. ;)

What exactly differentiates a Cimarron Uberti Walker from a plain Uberti Walker, anything? Better or worse quality?

In effect, quality. Cimarron is said to "cherry pick" Uberti stock for the best guns and stocks only those. I've never seen any confirmation of that thesis, however.
