Is this gun small enough and light enough for pocket carry? Say a pair of khaki pants or shorts.

Since it's an L-frame, you'd need some honkin' big pockets.
It's about the size of a medium-big paperback book. You could maybe carry it in a coat pocket in winter...

Well I am 5'10" or so and I have more than once stuck 4" Security Six or 4" 629 in right front pocket (no holster) around the house usually with dockers. The weight of the gun is biggest problem with those 4" revolvers.
Usually do that when I opened door to unexpected guests that I knew (like roomie coming home day early from out of town trip) they never noticed gun in pocket.
I suspect you could, but you will have to try it to see if it is comfortable. With the revolvers I mentioned above standing was okay, but sitting tended to hurt. A pocket holster would probably help that.
