Tomorrow I am picking up a 7.62 NATO chambered SA M1919A4 to put on the 'deuce. I can't afford a ring turret, so I need to figure something else out for now. I'm thinking in the bed, about 18" above cab height and 2' from the back of the cab. Thoughts?

.50 BMG's go in turret mounts. M1919A4's don't go on trucks anyway. They go on the right side of an M38A1 or M151 jeep in a pintle mount.
The ground mount tripod complete will cost you $699 from Gunparts.

Rig up something like the tailgun from a WW2 RAF heavy bomber. Four .30s on a motorized mount. :D

OK, a trip to Ace and about 3 hours in the garage and we got it worked out. It will be bolted in the bed 3 feet behind the cab. All 1/4" wall 2" square tube and 3/8"x2" flat bar, with a 1" ID ball bearing around a 1" bolt for the horizontal traversing. Sorry bout the bungee cluttering the photo; The gun isn't that well balanced.

I know some of our members have REAL M2HB's and M249 Bravo's with correct mounts to correct vehicles and so forth, but this is the best I can do on my budget;)

Go over to www.shoot1919a4.com and check out some of Rich's designs. He has some cool stuff and can custom make a mount for you.

I've seen a photo from WW2 where the M1919 was mounted to the outside running board on the right side, just behind the fender, probably for use by the co-driver. Thought it was a cool way to mount it (the truck was a Dodge soft top cab Duece, BTW).

You could have tried the Southern way, lots of JB Weld and Duck Tape. :D :D

However you do it, register the truck this time:D

Police might not be so forgiving with a 1919 up there:what:

Some good ideas and links here:
http://browningmgs.com/index.html

You really need ammo can holders - one for feed side, one on the other to catch your links/brass.

Rather than the bungee, try this:

Just make it into a stinger with a garand stock and bipod and manhandle it around....

:)
