Colt .22 mag information

I have two old Colt .22 mags. My father had a 1917 vintage .22 Colt Automatic Pistol. These were two extra mags that came with the firearm when he bought it from a childhood friend.

One of these mags has a cast brass follower. The stampled print on the bottom of the mag reads CAL .22 on the first line and COLT on the second line. This print is very small 1/16" tall.

The second mag has a steel folower. It appears to be made from a piece of flat bar that was bent, folded, or hammered in to it's shape. Under the bullet end of the follower the steel was shapped so there is a tear shaped hole in the middle. The printing on the bottom of this mag is 3/32" tall and reads the same as the first mag.

Anyone care to give me some ideas of the age of these two mags.

Thanks,
~Randy

They can't be any older than 1915 ( first Colt Woodsman ).

Can't help you with the second mag. The first might be the original one for the pistol though. Very early ( First 5,000? ) pre "Woodsman" magazines had a cast brass follower and very small numbers/lettering on magazine base. It should be a "two tone" ( top 1 1/4" not blued ). If it's original in very good or better condition? It would be worth some bucks to a collector, last I heard that was for sale went for $100.

Both mags are two tone finish.

I belive that one of the mags the one with the brass follower may have come with the firearm the other one was probably picked up somewhere along the line as a spare.

Dad was not in very good mental shape when he sold the gun ( he was in his 80's and had been having strokes) and I was living out of the country at that time. He may have sold the .22 without the mag and I found a George Lawrence hoster for the firearm as well that didn't go with it.

If anyone is intrested in these parts I have pictures. I need a couple of Colt .22 mags for 1911 frames (conversion units or Aces). Nothing special just extra mags to take out and use.

Thanks folks.

What do you want for them? I have a Woodsman made in 1938 and an extra mag would be nice.
