I took three crows with my new Marlin .17cal rimfire. Also killed two coyotes earlier this week with the same gun.:)

I love crow hunting. My crow hunting is all done with a shotgun and calls though. Give that a shot!!

for fast-paced, don't-bore-me shooting, i think it is impossible to beat an owl decoy, a crow and owl fight tape or crow reveille tape, and a fistful of shotgun shells...

the crows respond from about a mile out, and are typically there or visible in less than 5 minutes. shoot a few of 'em, pack your stuff up, and head down the road 1 mile, and do it again. 5 minutes later, you've shot 3 more crows, and are headed down the road 1 more mile...

great fun, calling crows in. i set up in the ditches, and keep a truck close by. no sense in putting out too much effort, bein as i'll be headed down the road in 5-10 minutes...

as far as rifle shooting goes, i prefer varmint targets to be praire dogs, or predators, but last week was out calling coyotes. got done w/ a stand and there were 2 crows in the field. my buddy pulled out a $20 dollar bill and a rangefinder. i set out the legs on my bipod, made the 337 yard shot w/ my 7 rem mag, collected our gear and my $20...

Rifle shooting crows is a riflemans game.

Remington 700 in 6mm Ackley Improved + 47.5 grains Varget + 58 grain Hornaday V-max + CCI benchrest primers + Winchester brass =

Smoked Crow..;)

This is one of the best crow loads i've worked up. Specs out right at 4000fps out of a 26 inch tube with a 1 & 8 twist.

3 inchs of drop at 300 yards...:what:

The hate mail is hilarious. Here's a sample with reply. No names have been changed.

Be careful of what your advocating. Crow consumption(destruction) may not be legal unless your a farmer protecting your crops. Personally I find the crow a beautiful and humorous creature. Consumed by natives only in an emergency and after an a great amount of spiritual inflection given to ease the anger of the powerful spirit that lives in the crow. If you really want to do the avian world a favor, shoot starlings with unwanton abandon.

Keep in mind that most people, especially farmers, fail to appreciate the humorous behavior of this destructive bird. Besides, I find that 1-1/4 ounces of #6 shot eases the anger of the powerful spirit that lives in the crow quite well.

Ah, yes. Big, black noisy rats with wings.

Not sure who likes crow sniping more, me or the cat. He seems to enjoy sitting off to the the side a few yards, then pouncing on 'em as soon as he can after they hit the ground. Chomps down on their neck until they quit floppin', then just walks away, looking quite satisfied with "his" accomplishment ... :)

For some reason, he seems to much prefer .22 sub-sonics over the centerfires ... ;)
