So I'm just back from a three week visit to the land of the sand and I check in at yee old gunstore to see what there is to see, being too wired to sleep after the 14 hour flight home.

I barely get in the door, when evilbert one of my co-workers quips "Hey, look at the Citori I bought used while you was gone keeping the world safe for democracy..."

So I head over to the used rack, where nary a Citori is to be seen, and make mention of the fact. Says evilbert 'Are you blind? tis right there" pointing to an O/U in the rack. I glance at it, about break my arm snatching it up, while shouting "Sold, Sold , I'll take right now!!!":what:

Now evilbert, sensing that something is not quite kosher with my reaction, saunters over and enquires "Why such the hoopla for a Citori, even if the price is right?"

Says I "Cause this Citori is in reality a 90% Superposed Lightning, choked improved modified and and full, obviously set up for trap doubles by someone who knows a thing or two...and because you have made me the deal of the year you to get to explain it to boss":neener::neener:

This is the best $600.00 I've spent in a long time, I look forward to shooting it this weekend. (Dave you going to be at Greenbelt?)

I am one happy camper!!

Wel,l I met Striker at pGC today and we wrung his Superposed out a bit.

Our conclusions are....

A, it's a very good shotgun.

B, fair market value on it is quite a bit more than Striker paid by a couple grand.

It's my nomination for Deal Of The Year.....

Striker,

Congrats!

I sure hope Dave did not put any misses on your gun...:p

As noted, got together with Dave out a PGC to give the Superposed a try.

Couple of things were noted:
-It is a field grade and shoots nigh on to 50/50 (will confirm on the pattern board soon) Dave opined that it might be a western gun brought east.
- Marked IM and Full, but IM appears to be a tad bit tighter with Remmie Gun Target & AA heavy trap loads. Didn't shoot the top barrel as it has a tiny ding that needs to pressed out, but will assume it will be fairly tight also. Thats works for me as I intend to make it into a trap doubles gun.
- Dave thinks that with the right load of #8s, "it might surprise you on the clay field".

Bottom line: The gun will do what it's suppose to, if I do what I'm supposed to. I remain a happy camper!

All in all an enjoyable outing.

Thanks Dave!!

You're very welcome, Striker. Glad you got a great deal after your service.

A couple things...

50/50 is probably very close to what it is going by your breaks. A little moleskin can build up the comb enough to raise POI a bit if you wish. Or, use an adjustable pad and work on it from that end.

Ideally, the lower barrel will print slightly higher than the upper on a trap doubles gun. The first clay is rising steeply while the second is starting to slow down by the time we get to it.

Like sm and I keep preaching, load selection can neutralize excessive choke. Soft 8 or 9 shot will open patterns a little.

IM and Full on a 60s-70s shotgun plus modern ammo equals Full and Extra Full performance nowadays. Pattern with Gun Clubs or similar and see how they look at 35 yards for the first barrel and 40 or so for up top.

HTH....

Any of you ever shoot at St. Charles?

This is about as good a deal as the guy that got the HK PSG-1 for $200 at an estate sale (in another thread around here). Everytime I think about that, I get irritated for some reason...

No, Gordon, though I did shoot 3D there way back. Sounds like you're in Southern MD....
