I have a Taurus 607 that I haven't used in a while and a friend of mine is interested in it. What is a good price for it? It is stainless, ported, 7 shot on a full size 44 frame. It is used and does show a little wear but not bad. Any help would be appreciated

do you mean the taurus 608 holding 8 rounds of 357 in a large frame design, in matte stainless steel finish with 4", 6.5" and 8.357" barrels?

2006 catalog puts 4 " solid rib barrel at 569, 6.5" + 8.357" vent ribs at 594 brand new.

The 607 was made before the 608. Only made for one or two years until the decided that 8 rounds would fit in the large frame. It is polished stainless with the 6.5 barrel.

Maybe, but Taurus did make a 607 shortly before S&W released their 7-shot 686. Afterwards, Taurus released the 608, which was the same gun with an extra hole in the cylinder. In reply, S&W re-introduced the 627, now in an 8-shot variation. I believe this started in 1995. Shortly after the 1994 "Crime Bill" became law there was an interest in "high capacity" revolvers. Taurus was doing a lot of new stuff in the mid 1990s, such as increased revolver capacity and titanium frames.

I don't think they made a lot of 607s, so putting a price on is kinda difficult. (For example, try getting a Colt Viper for Blue Book value.) That said, there aren't many Taurus collectors so its value is probably more as a shooter than anything. In "used and does show a little wear but not bad" condition, you're probably looking at around $275. Of course, that's just a SWAG based on the going rate in a different region all the way across the country. YMMV.

Stainless LNIB models are going for about three bills on Gunbroker. Blue ones are going for a little less. Ti ones are going for a little more.
