I bought a bunch of 7.62x51 brass yesterday, about half USGI and the other foreign/unknown. Over half of the USGI, it turns out on closer examination, has serious insipient seperation issues and will be scrapped.:( I bought it for scrap price so I'm not out any money.

The foreign stuff looks good, is even boxer primed, but I don't know where it's from or if it's good brass to reload. Has anyone used this stuff? It has the NATO symbol, then SF and 71 on the headstamp. The primer looks either nonstandard or heavily crimped.

Thanks in advance for any info.

Thanks! I'm hoping it's good brass because I have a bunch of it. I think I'll load some up and try it out.

The primer certainly looks heavily crimped.

Let us know how it works out for you...

I'm interested in your results...

Gévelot ammo is imported here. I shot quite a bit of their commercial ammo back in the 70's. I have some of their brass in my stock pile of 30-06 and it reloads fine.

Take Care

AARRG! This junk is just like that old Taiwanese 30-06 ammo I had a while back! Why in the blue blazes would anyone make odd-ball sized boxer primed brass???:banghead:

I just sat down to load some to try it out, got it sized, trimmed, carefully removed the primer crimp with my RCBS primer pocket swager, then seat the primers. After they get past the lip of what is left of the crimp, they rattle loose in the pocket.

Looks like I have about 25 pounds of scrap. Unless someone knows of a source of oversize boxer primers???
