A fellow from our gun range has a Winchester 101 20 ga. with 27" bbls
bored skeet&skeet. The reciever is solid nickel with some scroll engraving
He said that only 500 were made in the 70s.It is for sale and I have no idea
on what it is worth. Any help you could give on history or value would be
appreciated.

It may be a Model 101 Skeet Grade. They were mfg from 1966-1984, so I'm guessing a lot more than 500 were made.
You need to get the exact Model off the barrel plus the serial number; that would help to determine when it was made and how much it's worth. There's a lot of variations of the Model 101 out there.
