Is there common locally available material I could use? JB weld? Bondo?

The urathane fiberglass products, as sold at Ace or True Value and other hardware stores are good products to use.

The only thing is you need to use something called ground floc.

it is the fiber matting ground down so it looks very much like powdered suger,

this takes the runny goo and makes a paste that will stay in place until the barreled action displaces it.

ONE MUST is a releasing agent!

with out a release agent the metal will stick to the bedding agent, and that ruins everything.

Another product, is Brownells Acra Glass, it makes a very nice paste that is fairly easy to use,

if it isn't in stock in a gunshop near you, they are online, they get things out right away, and in three days or so you will recieve an order.

Be very careful with anything you use to bed a rifle when these things stick, or get in the wrong place and then stick, they don't want to go away, and make life very enteresting!

Brownells Acra Glass is an excellent choice it comes with a release agent in the kit but you can use Johnson past wax as well. I wouldn't recommend bondo or jb weld but their are several epoxies you can use at your local hardware store I have used the type that comes in a pair of large syringes to some good effect.
