I especially love the part about our CCW law being struck down by the supreme court being a good thing...

New Mexico receives low marks for child gun safety

Last Update: 01/07/2003 08:27:10
(Albuquerque-AP) -- New Mexico received a "D-" for the second year in a row for its child gun safety.

That according to the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence.

The group says New Mexico needs to make changes in the law to better protect children from guns.

Those changes include child-safety locks on guns and criminal background checks for gun buyers.

The group also calls for state lawmakers to hold adults accountable if they leave loaded guns around kids.

On one bright note, the group has given New Mexico a "Sensible Safety Star" for good conduct in 2002. It cited a state Supreme Court decision striking down a law allowing people to carry concealed handguns.

The LEAD story on the news tonight was how the tristate (OH,KY,IN) had all failed the Brady Center's test and how terrible that was. Perky news babe was all a flutter over this and spouted some "common sense solutions". At the end she mentioned that these "common sense solutions" were taken from MA and that they had received an "A" on their report card. "We all need to try to improve our grade next year".:cuss:

Time to turn that box off before I kicked it in. :fire:
