A $7,000.00 Charles Daly?

First let me qualify this: I hae never seen or handled one of these before. Just stumbled across it on their wesite.
CD Diamond & Diamond (http://www.charlesdaly.com/HTML/products/firearms/shotguns/SbS/sdiamond.asp)
I thought a Charles Daly was what you bought to go bang around in the brush and rocks with. Your "other" gun when you didn't want to take a chance on messing up one of your better ones.
Is this for real? Anybody know anything about this? I'm just curious, I don't think I'll be running out anytime soon to get one.

i don't know. i think that i'd rather pay $1000-$2000 on a nice ruger red label or a beretta than spend $7000 on a CD. just my personal opinion.

Smoke, the CD companies have been in existence for a century, and have never made a gun.
CD is an importer, and their gunns have varied as widely as the locations of their makers.
Older SxS shotguns under their marque were made by Lindner in Prussia, and were top quality throughout.
The Japanese Dalys were also good guns, though finish wasn't quite as good.
Most of the new stuff is made in Third World countries and while solid, not great.
Maybe this is an attempt to recover the top end of the market.
Using the DMMU, this costs over 20 good used 870s.

I'm glad to see that we've accepted the DMMU! :)

The high end Daly sidelock sxs are being made by Grulla Armas in Eibar, Spain. It is one of the better Spanish gunmakers although for $7,000 I suspect you could get a lot more gun by ordering directly or going through one of their importers.
A friend of mine who has owned guns made by most of the top-tier Spanish makers has made Grulla his preferred maker of choice.
The lower grade sxs Dalys however are made by Hermanos Zabala and they wouldn't be a maker I'd recommend.
