I have narrowed down the guns I really want to the CZ P01 and the Taurus PT-145/745.
I doubt I will be able to find the P01 local, so I might have to get the PT-145. I think it would fine for my purposes, but I have gotten confused as to all the models and generations that are available for it.
There are both mil and mil pro models? And 5 generations in all. And two different sight configurations?
I am pretty sure that I want the DA first shot / SA subsequent shots action. Which generations has that? I don't want the DAO models.

There is also www.taurusarmed.net as a source for those who want to find out about this. There is even a FAQ section and gunsmithing board as well.

I went today and there was a new gen3 with two clips for $340+tax and a used gen2 with one clip for $300+tax. (Both with SS slides)
Does that seem reasonable. At this point I am leaning toward the new gen3 model.

only 21 dollars more than I paid for the 3rd gen in SS with two magazines. Get the new, at least you know what you are starting with. Great shooter so far, I even got my wife to fire 6 shots and she won't even touch my 1911. definately check out taurusarmed.net and taurustalk on MSN and read up on anything you can find.

fiveO, That sounds just a bit high on the new gen 3. Selling for $329 around here w/ SS slide. I just bought 2 new Gen 3's; a PT111Pro and a PT140Pro for $600 together as one deal NIB. Have 3 Gen 2's and still a Gen 1 + a 24/7 OSS on order. These are great guns for the money!
Way high IMO on the used gen 2. That gun can be had for $225-$250 if you look around a bit more.

Yeah that is what I was thinking as well, that both were a bit high. I might get the $340 if that'll be the OTD price (absorb tax).
