Well, I took my pistol-grip, extended mag, side saddle holding 00 buck shots, and green colored Remington 1100 tactical shotgun to the trap field and shot 2 rounds with it. You don't know what looking out of place is until you've walked around the club house and trap fields with one of these beauties. Imagaine the conversation you'll have!

So anyone else used a pistol grip shotgun on the trap field?

Where I shoot, someone would probably offer to lend you a gun.:) Not as an insult, but because people are friendly to others who want to try clay shooting.

Unless you were wearing a Nazi shirt, anyway. That guy was told, in no uncertain terms by a group of guys holding shotguns, to get the hell out.:p

That said, an 1100 with an extension is muzzle-heavy enough that, with the right choke, it'd work reasonably well.

I didn't do too well, my scores were 14 and 13. However, I did enjoy it so much that I bought a CZ over and under (20 gauge, 28"), whic increased my score to around 18. I'm planning to go again this weekend and am hoping to break 20.

That Remington 1100 worked very well for me at 3 gun matches where almost all targets were steel plates and not moving around. It's 18" barrel with integrated IC choke wasn't ideal for much else though.

It's not the fact that you didn't do well, it's the fact that you did it that's important.

Defensive shotguns work for us only when we hold up our end. Lots of practice is crucial. Shooting small fast targets makes hitting bigger, slower ones more certain. Note that a standard sized clay is 4 .25" wide, about the same as the widest part of the CNS.

Next time try some skeet also......

I've used my 870 Tactical for skeet and did about as well as I do using my 1187 or other 870 average about 20-21. I did get some strange looks and offers to use another gun but I had just got it and was breaking it in. I figured that a few rounds of skeet would speed up the process. The guys I was shooting with were suprised that I did so well with it. Now if I bring it out or my other 18" 870 noone thinks anything of it.
