My buddy sean showed me his 30-30... its a top ejecting Winchester looking rifle but marked SEARS... did Winchester make Sears marked rifles? I thought all theirs were Glenfield/Marlin.

Sears sold a lot of Winchester - made guns in the "Ted Williams" era.
I have seen Model 70 and 94 rifles and 1200 and 1300 shotguns with Ted Williams-Sears trademarks and a few cosmetic changes. I even saw one Winchester 101 over-under made up for Sears.

Does this sound like them-
Bright gold plated receiver & barrel bands, heavy octagon barrel
RIFLE - 26" barrel
CARBINE - 20" barrel
Something like 100K were made. Value today is in the 500-600 range for each. To get that price, they must be NIB, all paperwork, never shot/or action worked, etc.

A silicone impregnated cloth for the metal would do no harm. If the wood is in need, I would suggest a little BLO (boiled linseed oil) applied with your fingers or a soft flannel cloth.
