Just out of curiousity, what do you mean by "Powerful rifles?"

I had my first time yesterday....well, not first time. People have let me shoot their rifles before (.45-70, .223, 7.62x39, .270) but this was my first time with one of MINE (sorta...borrowed from dad, but it's in the family!)

I had about 30 rounds of 12ga therapy, as well as 6 shots of .243 Winchester therapy. :) To me, that's a "powerful rifle" compared to my .22LR. :D

I'm reminded of harlan ellison IIRC who was on the old "dating game" kindof as a hoot. When the girl asked him what kindof date he would take her on he said something about how he would pick her up in a limo and they would drink champagne as they drove to the dump where they would shoot rats with pearl handled pistols. Sounded good to me.

by 'powerful' he was refering to the three .308 battle-rifles that were present as he had never shot anything like that before.

a Cetme, Chicom M-1A and my Garand

MAN!!..there was NATO .308 brass everywhere!

dude,

Do you have a Navy Garand in .308, or some other kind of conversion? I just bought a Garand in .308 (not a Navy model) and am interested in learning as much as I can.

Plus, I think it was the first time Mr. Wong ever fired an AK-47 too. It looked good on him.

Yes, it was a great time, and please come on up again, Johnny. Yes, it is a very fun drive up to the dump.

or down to the dump

yes, it was Mr Wong's first time with an AK also...............c-los, you should have brought that sexy FR-8 for him!! (one shot anyways)

Malone-- my .308 garand is a custom job made using a CAI garand as a 'parts kit' and installing a new barrel. Then it was tuned to shoot most any NATO head-stamped 7.62. It seems to likes the Portugese stuff the best. >308 Garands are pretty straight foward and unless yours is a .06 with the dreaded barrel insert you should have no trouble. Feel free to PM me with any questions/problems or if you need a mag well block.

If you can find them, shoot the head off a charged fire extinguisher and/or gas bottle (nitrogen/oxygen/hydrogen/etc.). Also good are spray cans, TV/Computer screens, gallon cans of paint and any glass windows you can locate, especially car windows.

Of couse, use applicable safety precautions, one being shoot from cover at a good distance. Point any extinguishers/gas bottles in a safe direction as they can turn into cruise missiles.

yea, shooting stuff like that is fun..................... but I named the place because of all the whitetrash a-holes who go out to the site an dump their trash out there.

We shoot mostly orange clays (like %98 of our targets, set out @ 85meters or so on a berm), aluminum cans and the odd phonebook or two. And we always try to pack out our trash along with some of the extra crap out there.
