Slugs

My goofy question for the night is this: What slugs can be shot through an improved cylinder choke on an 870 express? I read on Remington's website that slugs CAN be fired through an IC choke, so whadda ya feed em? I have a Mossberg 695 bolt action 3 inch sabot only 12 gauge that I use during deer season and I'm thinking that if I should have a problem with it (doubtful, but you know shtick happens) that I would like to keep my 870 Express as a back up, or, at least a secondary in-the-corner-quick-grab. Brand preferences preferred, also, if you should own a Mossberg 695...what do you feed it?

Any slug will shot safely, best results will probably come with Brenekkes or "Rifled" slugs of the Forster style.

HTH....

Thanks Dave, last time out I dumped a brenneke through my Express and it blew a hole right through an old, dead tree. I likie!

They blow big holes in MD whitetails too. Blood trails Ray Charles could follow....

RN, they sure do. Especially 3 inchers through my Mossberg slug gun. It's more like......EARTH SHATTERING KABOOM.....OUCH...I surrender Marvin :o

If your Mossberg is a fully rifled gun, I would advise to only shoot Sabots. Foster type lead slugs will eventually reck the rifling.
I would not shoot Sabots out of a smooth bore gun because they will have no stability because of lack of spin.
