Since we are not allowed to have ANYTHING that is not firearm related (even rights discussions) over there, I thought some of you here would like to read about this school teacher's adventures with this wonderful Naval representative.

They were afraid someone was going to hijack the USS Constitution?

That is why I stopped visiting the 1911forum. I know its private property and they can make up whatever rules they want etc. However, Shane goes way overboard on locking threads. His favorite reason for locking a thread is the mention of something religious. He, however, is the first one to respond to a "prayer request", hyporcite POS.

Before I read the thread I would have given 10:1 odds he was the culprit. I hope I dont get your thread locked over here too.

THR has way more charachter and depth than they do anyway.:D

I think the guy should have said, loudly, "Kids, I want you to direct your attention to <enter guy's rank and name> here and note his demeanor. When we get back to class, we will begin studies on the Nazi regime of pre-war Germany and the consequences to the liberties of the German people."

I've been unhappy with the 1911 forum ever since they banned "The_Claw" and deleted most of his posts. :( Man that guy was hilarious! :D Still a nice forum though, but I don't post there much anymore. Bunch of fuddy duddys.

And I grow tired of the police state mentality over on Glocktalk all the time with all the LEO posters. I like their carry issue forum, but the "Cop Talk" section typically gets my blood boiling so I try to resist the temptation of reading it.

Things seem to turn funny these days.

Some German guy I know is holder of a Florida driving license. During his last visit he tried to have it renewed.

They told him that he, being a tourist without a visa, could only have a temporary 90-day-license. He asked for the reason and the office clerk said with a stern face, "Well, I think you Germans trained the 9/11-terrorists to fly planes, didn't you?"

My friend didn't bother to tell him that Mohammed Atta and his gang attended flight schools in Florida...

Enough said. I always knew that once things get too bad over here I would try to emigrate to the "land of the free", but I'm not too sure about that anymore.

Trooper

WonderNine,

I'm in the same boat. I quit visiting there as much after they banned Kevan for his unique insight. The guy was good at getting a healthy debate started and made it fun. You're right, they're turning into a bunch of curmudgeons over there. This forum is much better.

IIRC, Kevan got banned after he said he was leaving and never coming back. Kinda like getting fired after you guit.

"I quit."

"You cannot quit, you're fired!"

"France Sucks" was what got Kevin booted. Perhaps a visionary, but a week later France proved that they did in fact "suck". But Shane is from Canada, so what would we expect?

I stop every once in a while to that old ghost town and it is all the same BS... Shane has not moved from the keyboard in months fearing the worse...an unrelated thread not posted by himself. I even hear he runs practice drills on other boards just to keep his his moderation skills sharp, strong side...weak side..he does it all. :D

Anyway, too bad the big boys couldn't play like men, it was a great forum.

As to the original post: I find it hard to believe that the POs would be so rude. I was stationed in Boston when my ship was in dry-dock. All the Constitution sailors seemed to be there in an honorary position (like the "Guards/tour guides" at National Monuments).

I guess these times are a changing.

That thread went much further than normal considering the topic. THR has a Legal and Political Forum as well as a General Discussion Forum. The 1911Forum folks have made a decision to restrict posts of that type simply because of the tendency of them to become food fights. They have no general non-firearms related forum. They do have a Legal & Political News forum, but it too is limited to "issues relating to gun control, legislation, etc."

The 1911Forum is great for discussion of firearms, particularly 1911/A1 pattern pistols, but for other "off-topic" discussions, THR is much better. Nothing says you can't visit both.

I don't understand why they couldn't have let you put the pocket knife in the same tub as the other "deadly weapons" like watches. I respect that you chose not to participate -- more of us need to "just say no."

PS -- Kevan has been over here almost since he left 1911Forum. Ya just gotta know how to recognize posting styles. :p

It's a shame they got rid of The Claw. I haven't been over there in a while, but that guy was a crackup! :)

Hey guys, we try to avoid talking bad about other gun forums here on THR. It tends to breed animosity between the members of the different boards. Just a heads up.

Yeah, Corriea is right...some of those moderators hang out elsewhere and spy on us.;) I know at least one who does anyway....and yes he's a mod at 1911. I once made a similar statement on another forum and he made it his mission in life to harrass me. Poor guy, you'd think he'd have better things to do....

And just for the record, if "Kevan" is reading this...PM me....I've been wondering where you went.:D

I didn't mean it to come off bad for 1911forum, and in fact, the original poster did move his post to the correct forum over there later and I found it. I just thought we'd get more in depth over here.
