:uhoh:well, i dune it now. i broke the bolt on my uberti. its only a couple month old, maybe 200 rounds through it (well i also worked the action while on thr :D ). here is the million dollar question; does anybody make a quality, non failure prone bolt? another uberti one runs 18, a colt 46, a usfa 25 iirc. so, is there an after market unit you guys would recommend? since ill have to be fidlin with it anywho, methinks ill replace the rest of the innards with wolf springs and tougher bits. thanks in advance.

Bolt = Colt talk for the part that locks the cylinder.

It would be best to buy a Uberti replacement, as bolt's made by other manufacturers don't necessarily interchange. Some CAS shooter have used Colt parts, but this includes using a Colt hammer too. That get's expensive.

The trick to long bolt life is how the part is fitted. The tail end is in effect a leaf spring that has to flex when the hammer is lowered. When the bolt breaks it is usually (1) at the front where the machined cut ends, or (2) at the screw hole.

The former can be improved by using a round needle file to make the square cut a round one, and the second one by polishing the screw so that the bolt can flex easier. Also make sure the bolt stud on the hammer isn't excessively long.

If all of this doesn't make any sense to you, consider having an action tune-up done on the revolver by a 'smith specializing in single action work. In the long run you'll save money by not having to buy endless parts. While you're at it, replace the stock hand spring with an unbreakable plunger and coil spring (of the kind used in Ruger's) and change to a music wire bolt & trigger spring. Those two will be the most likely to go next.

I at first assumed (OK, I know what that makes of me!) the bolt/trigger spring had broken; that's not uncommon (happened to a replica M1861 Navy and to my son's Uberti....). Now, a broken bolt is a different matter!

i was also hoping it was a spring (8 bucks). im kinda hesitant to buy a uberti part (20 bucks, already broke) it was already modified in the way recommended, the bust was at the hole. i was wondering if perhaps anyone made one out of titanium or something better than spring steel. o well, have to shoot my 1911 for a while :p
