Art,

Isn't it: "Lock and Load", not "Load (thread) and Lock"?

:neener:

(Hope you had nice vacation!)

oh....and: IBTL!

The closings are annoying, but welcome.

He's back and has a new box of locks.

Folks, it's going to be a long, hot summer... and it's not even '08 yet. For L&P to remain useful, someone has to dust and pick up the dirty dishes once in awhile -- even if it takes a fire hose to do it.

Welcome back, Art.

Please don't misunderstand me: I very much appreciate the work Mr. Eatman does and I don't find thread closures annoying, at all.

Why in the world would we need 437 Ron Paul/Fred Thompson threads???

So I guess the question being begged is........

What calibre to kill the 438th thread?

What calibre to kill the 438th thread?

Ain't much a man can't fix, with $700 and 30-'06

I loaned Justin my '06, for the upcoming elk season. :) He wuz clanging the 400-yard bear pretty handily with it, there at the Whittington gathering. A couple of days later with his .17 Mach II, he did in around 75 prairie dogs, so the lad is doing well on the learning curve.

And now we're back. (Imagine evil chuckles.)

I don't want to see posts that evidence an excess of cerebral liposuction, or proof that not all lobotomies are effective. Let "CL" be an adequate clue. :D

I think that although it is early, it does a disservice to the lesser known candidates in both parties if political discussion is squelched for no particular reason other than the fact that the election is a long way off. The lesser known candidates need all the time they can get to improve their name recognition and get their message out.

Even candidates that we all know don't have much chance of winning the primary need to be heard, as their views are taken into consideration when the party platform is developed, and the views of minor candidates can affect the views of the major candidates.

Only the incumbents and well known politicians benefit when political discussion is stymied. I hope moderators will realize this, and take it into account when deciding what threads to close. I think our nation is best served if we don't go into the final stages of the campaign only knowing about Hillary, Obama, McCain, and Giuliani.

As long as discussion remains civil, I would prefer to see the threads stay open.

Yeah, but you don't 6-7 threads going. One is enough. Maybe two if issue is divergent enough from the other topic.

Can you imagine if all the candidates had as many threads as Paul has had started? L&P would be a morass of pointlessness.

I do not consider it pointless to discuss any of the candidates for the most powerful office on the planet.

"Pointlessness" is not the issue. "Timeliness" is the issue, given that I've yet to see any evidence that there is anybody in doubt as to their existing views. Further, there is little or no discussion as such: It's merely backing and forthing from fixed positions. Nobody's mind has ever been seen to change from "I hate XXX!" to "Okay, you're right, he's really a good guy."

Enuf.
