I will be passing through Indiana in a few weeks. I haven't shot in the area
since before IU removed their indoor range (yes, it has been a very long time).

Any decent public ranges still around?

Thanks.

My area of Indiana (Grant County, a few hours north of your area) is sadly lacking in decent public ranges. :(
There's a very basic one east of Marion, but it's owned by the police department and requires an annual membership fee to shoot there.
If anybody knows of other ones I'd be interested to know, too.

Down here, in Evansville, we have a bunch a ranges that include some with membership fees, public ranges, and public access land by the river. All ranges are top notch. You're more than welcome to swing by my place and we can shoot in my back yard. BTW, which road will you take? My home is 3 hours south of I-70(Indy) and 15 min south of I-64. OH, I just saw your requested counties, sorry. The invitation still stands though.

Public range? Not having to pay to play? Only take and not give? That's just downright unHoosier!:fire:

Camp Atterbury, I believe, is open again. It's in southern JOhnson County, which is very close to Brown and Monroe. Check out the Indiana DNR Web site.

Thanks all for the info. I might get at most a 1/2 day to get away on the
itinerary and driving any more than a 1/2 hr each way is going to be difficult.
Some people golf new places when they travel, I like to find new shooting
ranges.

During my recent travels it seems IU use to have a rather nice outdoor range
that was also open to the general public for a fee. However, it was closed
due to lead risks to the natural environment.....sigh.....
