Hello,

Does anybody know if a 410 lever gun can chamber a 454 Casull or a 45 Colt?

Thanks,

NWAttorney

I don't think it would and if it did I wouldn't try it.

Depending on the rifle, you might get it to fit, and properly space on the rim. HOWEVER, your 410 chamber is not strong enough to withstand the pressure of more powerful cartridges, when fired. My (uneducated) guess is that with 45 Colt, you would crack the receiver and bulge the barrel. [Continuing with my uneducated guess] with 454 Casull, the receiver would explode like a hand grenade with a significant minority of the pieces lodging themsilves in the shooter's person. I don't know what the barrel would do, but I wouldn't be surprised it it exploded too.

Gazpacho is right. .454 is a 60k psi+ round. If you light one of those up in a .410 shotgun your next major event will be a closed-casket funeral.

I know it's a very bad idea, but what is the chamber pressure of plain 45LC "cowboy" loads vs .410??

Nothing like putting a .452 bullet down a .410 bore after upping the pressures by 4 times. That stunt will put the bolt through your head or rupture the barrel tearing you hand to crap at the same time.

The 45/410 guns that are made for both have a much larger bore than the .410.
