I have an orginal Series 70 frame. I am looking at a Series 80 slide with barrel, bushing all parts for $300. Would there be any problems or issues in mating these two together? Is this a fair price for the 80 slide? It is is fine shape. Thanks for any input. Bill

If you leave the original Series 80 firing pin assembly and block in the slide the postol won't go bang, as there are no levers in the frame to push the block up to release the firing pin. You can remove the block and spring and replace them with Series 70 or Government Model parts, but that will leave that big ugly hole beside the disconector. Personally, I would spend the $300 for a correct slide assembly (Series 70 or earlier).
One alternative, that I don't particularly like, would be to grind a larger groove in the block so that the firing pin would be unlocked, even when the block was in the locked position.

Just leave out the firing pin obstruction. The hole won't hurt anything.
If it really bothers you, EGW will weld it up and remachine for about $50.

Yup. But now The High Road is in trouble because some low-life, stinking hacker wants to take the site down. Hopefully our membership will respond to these attacks by sending in a generous contribution during this time of need. Sometimes good advice isn't free.
